The announcement was made on October 3 at the NACAC’s annual conference in San Diego, Calif. Beane’s responsibilities will include a three-year commitment on NACAC’s board of directors. She will assume the presidency in September 2016, and will work with the board to address important issues in college admissions, including changing student demographics, ways to apply to college, cost of attendance, challenges of transferring schools, emerging technologies, international recruitment and standardized testing, among others. “We are absolutely thrilled that Nancy Beane will assume this prestigious leadership role with the National Association for College Admission Counseling,” said Steve Frappier, Westminster’s director of college counseling. “As a teacher, coach, advisor and college counselor, Nancy has worked with thousands of students and families. She will sharpen our awareness regarding today’s most important college admissions issues while also proudly representing our school.” At the completion of her one-year presidency in September 2017, she will serve one year as past-president. Additionally, when she finishes her term on the board of directors in 2018, she will spend a fourth year as NACAC’s chair of governance and nominating to identify the organization’s next group of leaders who will continue to work on behalf of students and counselors. NACAC is a global organization of more than 15,000 professionals across 23 regional affiliates who work on behalf of students as they make choices about their post-secondary opportunities. Members include college counselors, school counselors, independent counselors, college admissions personnel, community-based organizations and others.
