Clover
Exclusive Midwestern BioAg’s own high yielding, persistent ladino clover well adapted to the northern U.S. It is a true large leaf type variety that is acyanogenic (no cyanide like small leaf white clovers). It has large leaves as well as very good stolon production with good forage production into the fall adding to the grazing season. Developed in the Midwest, it shows very good persistence. Designed for both pastures and forage production. Impact II Adapted for the Midwest and Northeastern U.S; its plant growth habit is semi-erect to erect. It is similar in plant height to Marathon but two days later in maturity. Features resistance to powdery mildew and common crown rots, plus resistance to northern and southern anthracnose and fusarium wilt. These characteristics all contribute to stand longevity, persistence and productivity.
Other Forages
Green-N-Gold A blend of red clover, hairy vetch, annual ryegrass and a brassica. Used as an interseed mix, it will improve soils and make a green manure crop for the following year. The red clover and hairy vetch supply nitrogen and persist into the spring for plowdown. The ryegrass adds organic matter to the soil and provides a good food source for soil life; the radish drives its taproot deep, helping to loosen compaction and allowing air channels. Recommended seeding rate, 12-15#/acre.

High Quality Forage Blends
WinterKing II Developed using the Mineralized Balanced Agriculture system, it was bred from the healthiest, most persistent, highest yielding and highest quality plants in the Midwestern BioAg plots at our research partner’s Wisconsin station. We cross-pollinated this small but select group of exceptional plants to create an outstanding new alfalfa. WinterKing II was the highest yielding variety not only under the BioAg fertility program, but also in conventional plots across the Midwest, outperforming the top alfalfa varieties in the industry today!
HQF Dry Hay Designed for dry hay production, although it can be made for silage and baleage if needed. This mixture of tall fescue, timothy and orchardgrass was selected for its late maturing characteristics as well as summer production. The tall fescue and orchardgrass give summer production even in dry weather and heat. The timothy gives exceptional energy and quality ddoorm dorm maannt into inttoo the in thhee summer sum ummer mer and me aannd fall. fallll. fa in the first and second cuts, but does goo dormant WinterKing II alfalfa recommended as the companion to this blend.
In addition to being a high yielding alfalfa variety, WinterKing II exhibits high levels of multi-leaf expression which is an indicator of high quality. It is a fall dormancy 4 with a winter hardiness index of 2. With a disease index of 30/30, it will thrive in a wide range of environments. A medium tall variety with a thick, dense leafy canopy and a dark green plant color, it will work in a three, four or five cut system. We’re proud to offer this exceptional, MBA exclusive alfalfa variety, WinterKing II. Fall Dormancy Multi-Leaf Expression Winter Hardiness Disease Index 4 80% + 2 30/30
*Recommended seeding rate for this blend: 5-7#/acre of Dry Hay plus 15-20#/acre of WinterKing II.
Goliath A high yielding, persistent alfalfa using StandfastTM Fast Recovery technology. A non-GMO alfalfa using European genetics and a fast recovery alfalfa with high yields, persistence and forage quality, Goliath is a fall dormancy 4 alfalfa with a winter hardiness index of 2, and a disease index rating of 29/30. In addition to fast recovery, this alfalfa has 50% multi-leaf expression adding to forage quality. Goliath will mature 3-5 days earlier than conventional alfalfas. The days gained help maximize the number of cuts and add to the total yield per season. Fall Dormancy Multi-Leaf Expression Winter Hardiness Disease Index 4 50% + 2 29/30

HQF Hi-Energy Pasture A blend of the most digestible grasses available. ili bl As A a partt off the th ration, ti HQF Hi-Energy Pasture is great for milk production as well as putting pounds onto cattle and sheep. This blend needs the best ground with the most fertility and water holdingg capacity to keep it going longer in the summer. Adding Red Clover at 4#/acre is recommended for a jump-start on thee clover establishment, and 1#/acre chicory for diversity and for its ability to pull nutrients from deep in the soil.
*Recommended seeding rate for this blend: 20-30#/acre HQF Dry Tolerant Pasture High energy pastures tend to go dormant in the summer as they are not as tolerant of the heat and dry weather. This mix gives summer production while providing energy for meat and milk production. It will continue to grow w longer into the summer as these grasses es are more heat and drought tolerant.
*Recommended seeding rate for this blend: 14-16#/acre along with 5#/acre of WinterKing II OR Seeded by itself 20-30#/acre.
