Pinterest - Doing Good Service Ideas My chapter is bored! My seniors are not coming around! There is no SFS organization near our chapter! What can I do?
These seem to be amongst the most common conundrums facing our vp: Foundation. Have No Fear! We’ve created a “Doing Good: Service Ideas” Pinterest board under the Delta Gamma Foundation Pinterest id that’s full of ideas for new service activities! Try a new one each month to delight your chapter! Even seniors won’t be able to resist these fun-filled activities! There are a number of pins that can be done remotely and even some that will assist you with searching for volunteer organizations close to you. We welcome any and all of your SFS ideas, please forward these along to collservice@ deltagamma.org. Thanks for “Doing Good”!
How Can My Chapter Increase Our Fundraising Event Donations? That’s easy! Boost your fundraising donations by using MemberPlanet, the only DG Foundationapproved online fundraising vendor. They can help you make customized online campaigns especially for your Anchor Splash or Anchor Games fundraising events. Remember that GoFundMe, PayPal, Venmo and WePay are not endorsed or approved by the Delta Gamma Foundation for online fundraising. Questions? Contact
[email protected] for information. It’s that easy!
Dollars $ Cents - Collegiate Fundraising With your fall fundraising events around the corner be sure to input the information on the master calendar. The Pre-Planning Fundraising Event Form will populate for you to complete and send to your Regional Foundation Coordinator 6 weeks prior to the event. All fundraising events must be approved by the Regional Foundation Coordinator. After you have completed your successful Foundation fundraising event the Post Event Summary (PES) needs to be completed on e-Ops+ 2 weeks following your event. Questions re: fundraising events email your Regional Foundation Coordinator.

We are here to help you!
Whether you are new to your office or in the midst of your second semester as a vp: Foundation we appreciate you taking this leadership role for your chapter and want to help clarify some of the responsibilities in your office. With that said, here are some of the most frequent challenges you may face in your office responsibilities. And the answers to help guide you! • Mailing Box Tops - Three of Delta Gamma’s sponsored schools accept General Mills Box Tops. They are Blind Children’s Center, Los Angeles, Children’s Center for the Visually Impaired, Kansas City, and the Delta Gamma Center for Children with Visual Impairments, St. Louis. If you have a local school for the blind you may wish to send your box tops to them; however, if there is not a school near your chapter then these three DG schools are happy to accept your donation. • Studying Abroad - If you have women in your chapter that are studying abroad for either a year or a semester, these women are not required to complete their service hours during this time. Please work with your chapter officers and advisers to indicate that these women are studying abroad and not on campus during this period.
Merit-Based Scholarship & Graduate Fellowship Information – What’s Up? The Scholarship and Fellowship Review Committees are pleased to announce that 29 women were awarded Meritbased Graduate Fellowships and 302 women were awarded Merit-based Scholarships this year. The women who won awards represent an amazing variety of career goals and aspirations. These women are truly doing good in our communities across the continent. A list of award winners will be published soon. Merit-based Scholarship Applications will open again in December and close March 1st. Merit-based Graduate Fellowship applications will open in January and close April 1. Social Media announcements will be made when the applications are available again. Please contact scholarshipfellowship@ deltagamma.org for more information.
• Academic Year - Service hours are required by our organization for your membership to be completed during the academic school year and during chapter sponsored activities. If a volunteer activity that is SFS related arose that would benefit your members outside of the academic school year – your RFNC will contact you. In general chapter members who volunteer during the summer or school breaks
cannot apply these volunteer hours to their service hour requirement. Questions? Contact
[email protected]. • Service hours with no description - All service hours, events and activities entered into e-Ops+ must contain a clear description of the SFS volunteering. With no description or a questionably relevant description such as, “Merry Manor” it is difficult for the Foundation to determine whether or not these service hours can be accrued to SFS. Without a description the service hours are not eligible. It is important to indicate a description so we can recognize all the great volunteer hours that your members are doing! • Contact schools and organizations BEFORE making any crafts or collecting items to donate to a school or organization such as braille cards, tactile quilts, etc. please contact the school or organization. That way you will know what type of donations or crafts they are in need of. This will allow you as vp: Foundation to create an activity that your chapter members will feel they are making a difference! You will find contact information for a number of SFS organizations across North America on the Pinterest board along with a number of ideas for new crafts and projects!
Foundation Signature Programs Can you name the Foundation’s three signature programs?

e-Ops+ Helpful Guides Accuracy and timely inputting of information into e-Ops+ is important for determining chapter status in the Foundation and Fraternity. Areas include Pre-Planning Fundraising Event Form, Post Event Summary (Group Events), Fact Sheet (Individual Service Hours by members) and Box Tops for Education. Each vp: Foundation will need to download the e-Ops+ Collegiate User Guide, e-Ops+ Getting Started (vp: Foundation) - How to Enter Collegiate Service/Awareness Hours. Any additional questions can be directed to
[email protected]. This information will be helpful as you navigate your way through e-Ops+ as well as answering questions about inputting information. The “Getting Help” button allows you to download helpful e-Ops+ documents.

Yes, the Rumors are True!
Unfortunately yes, the rumors are true. Campbell’s is making changes to the Labels for Education Program beginning August 2016. The Delta Gamma Foundation will no longer be participating in the Labels for Education® (LFE) program. The good news is that our LFE Chairman is still collecting labels to send to our DG sponsored schools through February 1, 2017. If you have any labels that you wish to send in – NOW is the time!. Send the labels to Anne Mount, 15815 Kersten Ridge Court, Chesterfield, MO 63017. The deadline to her is no later than February 1. With our participating in the program being discontinued, service hours will no longer be awarded in exchange for labels and there will be no future awards granted for the collection of labels. But Here is Good News! There are no changes to the General Mills Box Tops for Education program, so please do keep collecting those box tops! Questions? Contact your Regional Foundation Coordinator or email
[email protected].

SFS & Non-SFS Volunteer Hours
There are really only two things to remember with respect to Service for Sight and non-Service for Sight volunteering.
1. Only SFS hours can be counted towards the Delta Gamma Foundation service hours’ requirement and to be eligible for annual Foundation awards.
2. Only SFS hours should be recorded in e-Ops+
As a reminder, SFS hours are those hours spent volunteering for the blind or visually impaired. The Golden Anchor Program and SFS: Joining Forces are strategically designed to align with our SFS mission. More detailed information can be found in the Foundation training webinars. While we do have chapter members who participate in non-SFS volunteer activities and these activities may be incorporated into a chapter applying for the H.K. Stuart Spirit of Service Award given during Convention years, it is recommended that the chapter keep track of non-SFS volunteer hours in a Google doc or spreadsheet. Only volunteer hours that are SFS related are to be input into e-Ops+. Every year we see chapters recording activities such as church babysitting, food bank donations, cancer walks, etc. Under our Foundation mission statement, none of these activities are eligible to go towards the chapter’s overall service hour total. If you have any questions about whether or not an activity is SFS related, your RFNCs are always happy to help.
