francis coppola diamond collection 2013 pinot grigio Diamond Collection wines are classic California expressions that offer fruit-forward, multi-dimensional flavor and immediate drinkability. Pinot Grigio is a delicate varietal that can’t withstand too much sun and needs to be picked at precisely the right moment. When it’s just right, it bestows citrus notes, tropical fruit flavors, and pretty floral nuances you don’t find in other white varietals. To capture its personality without altering it with oak, we ferment and finish our Pinot Grigio entirely in stainless steel. Winemaker’s Notes 2013 was an excellent vintage across California. There was very little rain that year and temperatures never got excessively warm for any period of time. Plus, we got extra hangtime this season, harvesting a week and a half later than the year before. These conditions produced highly concentrated fruit with intense aromatics and a gentle sweetness. Upon tasting, the body is lean, the mid palate firm with medium length, and the finish is crisp and clean.
