F rem ont Peak, W est Face, W ind R iver Range. On the third day, A ugust 1, of a nine-day solo trip I climbed a new route on the west face of F rem ont Peak. The route followed the obvious and attractive crack system in the center of the face, and involved nine pitches. A small am ount of aid was used in the lower part of the route to climb a roof and a very thin crack, although these tw o sections could probably be climbed free. I did enjoy m any exciting sections of wild and difficult stemming on generally excellent rock. I reached the sum m it at dark. NCCS IV, F9, A l. The route followed the prom inent, left-leaning corner system just left of the Beckey-Lahr-M artinson route, seen on P late 34 in A .A .J., 1977. C h r is L a n d r y , E lk M ountain Clim bing Club
