Freshman Agriscience 1- 2016-2017 Course Syllabus Instructor: Mr. Branscum (918) 718-5362 (Cell) [email protected] Course Description: This course is designed to introduce students to the broad spectrum of agriculture. This includes subjects such as Record Keeping, Leadership, Plant Science, Livestock Industry, Agricultural Mechanics, and the many different careers in agriculture. These goals and objectives will be reached by having a very dynamic, student-centered classroom with hands-on application of learning. Agriculture is NOT about reading textbooks, memorizing facts, or falling asleep while the teacher is teaching. It is FUN!! Some days will be taught out of the textbook; but other days will be spent in the greenhouse, Ag shop, livestock arena, or interacting with fellow classmates. You cannot learn to weld a bead by reading a book. Agricultural Education is about LEARNING BY DOING! Grading Scale:

A = 100% - 90% B = 89% - 80% C = 79% - 70% D = 69% - 60% F = 59% - 50%

Absences: If a student is absent from class (excused or not), it is the student’s responsibility to contact the teacher for missing assignment. Because much of the class is hands-on and cannot be made up, a written assignment might be assigned so that students learn the covered objectives Student Conduct: 1. 2. 3. 4. 5.
