Friday Flyer – 27th March 2015 Caterlink Menu w/c: 13/4/15: Week 1 New Summer Menu at the end of the Flyer
Message from the Leadership Team/Governing Body Spring has sprung and our Reception children have successfully managed to hatch 5 chicks as part of their project on life cycles. Year 1 have been to the park, Year 3 to the National Gallery, Year 6 to Hazard Alley. The football and Netball teams have played in end of term tournaments. It’s been a rewarding but busy week at Deanesfield and our family of children and staff have continued to make us proud. On Wednesday this week we were visited by an Ofsted registered Inspector as part of a Hillingdon Borough annual audit check on school standards. He spent the day observing teaching in classrooms, interviewing staff, talking to children, looking at children’s books and interviewing Governors. He had a very enjoyable visit and was overwhelmed by the good and better quality of the teaching, the quality of care and guidance for children, the richness of the school environment for learning and the positive attitudes to learning and behaviour by all the children. Well done everyone. Ms Ranson has been busy uploading content to our new school website which is now live. Please visit www.deanesfieldschool.org.uk for all the latest school information. Just when we thought they’d be no more surprises in store, a little Florida sunshine arrived on a plane in the form of Mrs Norris who has returned to the UK for the Easter Holidays, and called in to pay us a visit. It was nice to catch up with her in person instead of via cyber space, and see in the flesh the person who still is responsible for drafting our weekly Friday Flyers. It’s been a short but busy term, and I am sure you and your children are feeling ready for a break from routine. It will be lovely to return to the longer stretch to the evenings, and the joys of the summer term. Today we say farewell to Mrs Kennedy who is leaving our school and send many congratulations to Miss Jadva who will be getting married on Saturday. Wishing you all a very happy Spring break and look forward to seeing you all return on 13th April 2015.
School Uniform Reminder The school uniform rule must be adhered to at all times. Failure to comply with the uniform policy could result in sanctions or your child being withdrawn from representing the school on a trip or event. Please ensure that your child is equipped with the correct uniform. Please remember that children must wear black school shoes which are suitable for outdoor play. Children will not be allowed to bring a change of shoes for play or lunch. A pair of plimsolls or trainers should be provided as part of their PE kit which is all that can be accommodated in the cloakroom spaces.
Haircuts When you have your child’s hair cut please ensure that their hair is styled sensibly as we will not allow 'harsh haircuts' as this can detract from behaviour for learning. Jewellery is not allowed except studs or sleeper earrings which must be removed for PE as part of Health and Safety. The school uniform supplier is Angel’s in Rayners Lane. Their telephone number is 020 8866 9972 and you can order online at www.angelsuniforms.co.uk. The new school website contains all uniform information; it is also shown in the children’s personal organizers. Please label all uniform and possessions with your child’s name to help prevent loss.

Year 6 trip to the Hillingdon Fire Station On Tuesday 17th March, Year 6 went to the Hillingdon Fire station to learn about safety. We had a competition to earn points. This meant we had to listen and behave well at each of the activity stations. We learnt about all different types of safety. For example we learnt about internet safety, bike safety and fire safety. The winner got 2 merits. Year 6 enjoyed themselves and wish they could go again. By Lana and Lauren

Netball News! This term has been a busy term for the Netball Team. They have entered 2 tournaments both played at Newnham Junior School. Although they did not win, they played exceptionally well as a team and put up a good fight. The girls would like to send a big thank you to the parents for the support they have given throughout the tournaments as it would not be possible without them. Miss Davies would like to acknowledge a few of the players for their hard work throughout the season. Emily, Millie and Francesca have really improved their shooting skills, scoring the majority of goals during the matches. Mya has shown great determination at attacking and defending and not giving up until the final whistle. Keira, Olivia, Beth and Ria have now perfected there footwork and are not moving with the ball. Finally, Chloe and Danielle have recently joined the team and are developing there defending techniques, they both intercepted many balls during out tournament last Monday. Well done to all the girls!
