Friday January 31, 2014 Tomas Hilliard Invited to Train with Costa Rica Under-20 National Team CSA Academy player has heritage through his mother
Tomas Hilliard, Charlotte Soccer Academy (CSA) player, has been invited to train with the Costa Rican Under-20 National Team next month. Hilliard will travel to Costa Rica on Sunday February 9th and then train with the National Team on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday that week. He will train in Guadalupe under Head Coach Ronald Mora and Director of Youth National Teams Pablo Sanz. He qualifies to play with the Costa Rican team through his mother who was born there. This season Hilliard is the leading scorer for the CSA U18 Academy team with eight goals in 12 games. He has been in the CSA Academy for three years and has been a CSA player for five years. He is committed to Stanford University where he will enroll in the fall of 2014.
“This is a great opportunity for Tomas to test his ability against some very good players, many of whom will be professional players,” said CSA Academy Director Richard Butler. “It is wonderful to see our CSA players get this kind of exposure at a whole different level. It will be interesting to see how he fits into this U-20 group once the week is over and whether it will lead to even greater things for Tomas. He should be extremely excited and looking to grasp this opportunity with both hands.”
