LAND PORTION Jan 09, 2018: FLY TO SAN JOSE, COSTA RICA [D] Depart Canada and fly to San Jose, Costa Rica and transfer to hotel. WELCOME TO COSTA RICA! Jan 10, 2018: SAN JOSE, COSTA RICA [B/L/D] Depart after breakfast for farm tours that specialize in carrots for the North American market as well as cabbage, potatoes, onion, strawberries and flowers. Following lunch return to the hotel in time to enjoy the facilities and the wonderful gardens. Jan 11, 2018: TORTUGUERO VILLAGE, COSTA RICA [B/L/D] Depart the hotel early, stopping enroute for breakfast. At the river dock, take a boat down the river and canals to Tortuguero National Park. Upon arrival at the lodge, check in then have lunch. The afternoon is free to relax and enjoy the pools or an optional visit of the local village. Later, take a guided nature walk before dinner. This portion of the Caribbean Sea beach is where the Green Turtles come annually to lay their eggs. Jan 12, 2018: TORTUGUERO NATIONAL PARK, COSTA RICA [B/L/D] The only way to see the National Park is from a boat. Early in the morning, depart the lodge to search for wildlife before the day gets too warm. Return to the lodge for breakfast and a chance to use the pools and relax before departing once more in the afternoon to travel the canals and wetlands in search of more wildlife. Return to the lodge for a happy hour and dinner. Jan 13, 2018: ARENAL, COSTA RICA [B/L/D] This morning, travel back up river to the dock where the bus will be waiting to take you to La Fortuna in the Arenal area. After lunch, a stop will be made at a local market that sells the fruits produced in the area such as pineapple, bananas, sugar cane and mangos. Enjoy a 3-night stay at the four star Royal Corins Hotel & Spa where each room has fantastic views of the volcanic coned Arenal, (weather permitting) and pool area. Jan 14, 2018: TABACON HOT SPRINGS /ARENAL, COSTA RICA [B/L/D] Today’s visits include a local school that will include Folkloric Dancing by the children as well as a tractor and wagon ride to an organic farm that produces papaya, vegetables and other fruits. Make tortillas and enjoy a delicious Costa Rican lunch with entertainment. Later in the afternoon, visit to the Tabacon Hot Springs to enjoy these soothing hot mineral pools that flow along a river from the volcano. Dinner will be at the Tabacon Hot Springs before returning to the hotel. Jan 15, 2018: ARENAL NATIONAL PARK, COSTA RICA [B/F/D] This morning’s visit will include a coffee plantation with lunch. There will be time to shop in the town of La Fortuna on your own before returning to the hotel. In the afternoon, there is an optional hike planned along the base of the volcano. Those not able to hike can enjoy the hot soothing waters of the pools back at your hotel. Jan 16, 2018: MONTEVERDE, COSTA RICA [B/F/D] Today, transfer by boat to the other side of Arenal Lake and travel the country roads to Monteverde. There is some magnificent scenery enroute as well as a visit to the Brenes Family Coffee Farm with a light lunch before continuing to the hotel in the Santa Elena area for a 2-night stay and some fantastic sunset views. 17, 2018: MONTEVERDE, COSTA RICA [B/L/D] Land Package Includes Jan This morning visit the Selvatura Walkways.
