VERRADO VIPERS FOOTBALL Dear Freshmen Vipers, I wanted to take a moment to let you know about a few things that might be of interest to you and your student-athlete. First, the Freshmen team camp will be held July 18 - 21 here at Verrado High School. The flyer for camp and the waiver are available on our athletic website: verradovipers.com. Due to the end of the fiscal year as well as our bookstore moving to a new accounting system, the best and easiest way to pay is through the bookstore by this Thursday, June 30th. If you are unable to make payments before this deadline, please contact Coach Wahlstrom to make arrangements. Secondly, I would like to invite you to an event VHS is hosting on Saturday, July 16th. The event begins at 8:00 AM with physicals being conducted by HOSA and Dr. Monroe for our studentathletes for only $20. While your athletes are getting their physicals and are issued their equipment, our new Athletic Director, Adam Brezovsky, and I will conduct our parent meeting. Mr. Brezovsky will share his vision for the Athletic Department as well as give you an opportunity to turn in your Athletic Packet and pay your Participation Fee. Afterwards, I will discuss camp, the fundraiser, the start of the fall season and answer your questions. The VFB will also be on hand to discuss the ways that they support VHS Football and how you can become a member. I hope to see you there! Finally, please make arrangements to have your student-athlete in our 2nd Hour Personal Development PE class. This class is a critical component to our program. We started this class with our Varsity two years ago, and in those 2 years we have gone 19-4, making the playoffs both seasons. We use that time for our weight training, conditioning, and walkthroughs. We believe it has allowed us to be more efficient in our time with the student-athletes. We are able to give more time for study hall before practice and conclude practice earlier allowing the student-athletes to get home at a reasonable hour. We believe this has helped our team GPA to swell to a 3.22 for our 70 Varsity players last season. As you can tell, we are very proud of our class and believe it will continue to have benefits for the years to come. We have really had a fantastic start to our summer program. Attendance is at an all-time high, the student-athletes are working extremely hard and the results are evident with our teams doing very well in the summer tournaments. Thank you for your encouragement and support of Viper Football. The best is yet to come! If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me at [email protected]. Strive to be ABOVE THE LINE!!
