15. 4 points: Student accurately solves the problem and shows work. Sample response: Surface area of entire wheelchair ramp: Back: 4 ft × 1 ft = 4 ft2 1×12 Sides: ( )= 6 ft2 2 Bottom: 4 × 12 = 48 ft2 1 4 Top: 4 × 12 = 48 ft2 25 25 Total surface area = back + 2 sides + bottom + 1 top Total surface area = 4 ft 2 + 2(6ft 2 ) + [NO BOTTOM] + 48 4 ft 2 + 12 ft 2 + 48 64

16. 3 points: Student accurately finds the area of the pentagon, shows work, and explains steps. Steps and explanation may vary. Sample response:

My first step was to decompose the pentagon into an isosceles triangle and a trapezoid. Then, I decomposed the isosceles triangles into two right scalene triangles. I found the total area of the two triangles by composing them into a rectangle with a width of 6 units and a height of 5 units = 30 units2. Next I found the total area of the trapezoid by moving a right scalene triangle from the left side of the trapezoid to the right side, creating a rectangle with a width of 8 units and a height of 5 units = 40 units2. I added the areas of both rectangles to find the total area of the pentagon. 30 units2 + 40 units2 = 70 units2. 6.G.1
