ow can you tell a super apple tree from an ordinary apple tree? Super apples! How can you tell a super follower of Christ from an ordinary follower of Christ? Super Fruit! It means they produce the fruits of the Spirit in a super way. Would you like to be a SUPER FOLLOWER OF CHRIST? GREAT! Start by studying Galatians 5:15-26. Then take a look at the definitions below and start producing “Super Fruit” today!!!
LOVE- Caring for another person. Forgive your friends when they do things to hurt you. Be a friend to someone who’s lonely.
JOY - Gladness. When you’ve had a bad day or things aren’t going the way you want them to, let God’s joy show forth anyway.
PEACE - Quiet; happy in your heart. As you draw closer to God, He gives you peace, even though you may be hurting.
PATIENCE - Being able to wait without getting restless. Don’t complain to your mom or dad when waiting in a line at the store. Teach someone younger than you a new skill, like playing a game or riding a bike.
KINDNESS - Treating others nicely. Bake some cookies and take them to your neighbor. Buy a friend an ice cream cone.
GOODNESS - Doing what is right. Don’t get homework answers from a friend. Don’t cut in line for lunch.
FAITHFUL - Staying true to your word. If you tell a friend you’ll do them a favor, don’t back out on them.
GENTLENESS - Thinking of others’ feelings, and treating them with kindness. When you see someone that dresses or acts different than you, be nice to them anyway.
SELF-CONTROL - Staying in charge of your own self. When someone makes you mad, don’t get angry at them. With a little help from God you’ll rock your super fruit powers!
SEPT 10th … “Kickoff” Night SEPT 17th … “School Spirit” Night This is the night to be proud of the school you attend! Wear a shirt, a hat, or anything else to let us know! SEPT 24th … “Ice Cream” Night All clubbers and leaders will cool down with some ice cream on this night.
GALATIANS 5:22-23 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance; against such there is no law.
Well, here we go again! September is a time of new beginnings, with new classes and teachers, new friends, and new experiences. There are even new homework challenges (sorry to bring that up!), new freedoms and as always … new responsibilities. Don’t forget to turn in your new “servant sheets”, kids. These are your “applications” which will let me know what areas you would like to help us with (in the Kids Street Church service you attend!). For more information, check out the details found on the insert in this newsletter. Now that fall is upon us, we begin our 11th exciting year of AWANA on Sunday nights (where kids get to know, love, and serve God!). Outreach Days are also back, where you can have a blast and make a difference … all in the same afternoon. Then comes “Five Alive” activities for our new fifth graders, our annual “TBC Food Train”, our very own “CHRISTMAS DAYS FOR CHILDREN”, and much more … Whew! I’m out of breath, and I haven’t even mentioned our children’s Christmas choirs … rehearsals will be on Wednesday nights and the kickoff is this month! If you are age four to fifth grade, we’d LOVE to invite you to be a part of one of our Christmas programs this December. Rehearsals begin on Wednesday night, September 27th. Age 4 to Kindergarten will meet in The Loft, and Grades 1-5 will meet in Room C107 (Cafeteria Room on lower level). Rehearsals for both choirs start at 7:00 pm, and pickup time for parents is at 8:00 pm. Finally, a special “shout out” to our new fifth graders! Make your last year in the children’s ministry count!! (Be sure to see Mr. Scott (Williams) to set up your laptop class, since you are now the “seniors” of our group! Classes are by appointment only, and happen only on select Sunday afternoons.) So let’s get to it … get involved this fall!! Because of Him,
Mr. Tim

Strawberry Jam! Jesus commanded us to “do the fruit thing.” Okay, those were not His exact words, but you can find what Jesus really said in John 15:16 (don’t look it up yet). This command can also be found in the letters below by eliminating the letters used to spell the fruits of the spirit. Only eliminate one letter for each time it is used. For example, eliminate one ‘L’ for love and one ‘L’ for gentleness. Unscramble the remaining letters to fill in the blanks below and discover Jesus’ command. (“Love” is already crossed out.)
Here is a great game of reverse “Hide-n-Seek”. Choose one player to be “it”. While everyone else closes their eyes and counts to twenty, ‘it’ tiptoes away to hide. After counting to 20, everyone begins to search for ‘it.’ When someone spies ‘it’, instead of calling out, they squeeze into the hiding place. All other players who discover them do the same. The last player in the ‘jam’ is ‘it’ for the next game!
Fruit for the Thought!
Here’s a memory game that makes a tasty snack when you’re done. Get about 10 “fruity” items from the kitchen and put them on a tray. Use things like fruit, juice, Jell-O, jelly, etc. Let everyone playing see the items, and then take the tray out of the room. Everyone writes down all the items they remember. The one who remembered the most is the winner, and the winner gets first pick for their snack.
Pucker Up Relay!
Divide into 2 teams. Cut straws in ½ and give one to each player. Cut two pieces of tissue paper into the shape of a lemon. The first player on each team applies suction to the straw to pick up the lemon tissue paper. He passes the paper to the next person in line. The next person puts his straw on the fruit and applies suction to get the fruit to stick to his straw. The fruit is passed down the line as quickly as possible. If it falls to the floor, it must be picked up by the straw. No hands on the lemons!
