Foundation Stage get gardening! We needed to clear the weeds and poppies first. Some of them were nearly as tall as us. We found lots of little seeds too.
When we dug up the weeds we pulled out their roots too. Some of them were so long. The roots grow down into the soil and suck up water to feed the plants, a bit like straws.
We also found all sorts of mini-beasts; worms, some long and some short, and two bright green caterpillars that wriggled along our hands!
When the bed was clear we planted lots of different bulbs, including daffodils and tulips. We counted them out very carefully and buried them beneath the soil, ready for them to grow in the Spring.
We then planted some Winter Pansies to brighten up the flower bed, making sure that we gave them a good water once their roots were completely covered. We hope you think they look lovely.
