1960’s ! 1960: Opened first GATE service station Moncrief Road in Jacksonville, Fla. ! 1964: Established first corporate office at 9540 San Jose Blvd., Jacksonville, Fla. 32257 ! 1960’s: Entered the fuel service business 1970-1980’s ! 1974: Owned and operated 500-acre potato farm in Hastings, Fla. ! 1978: GATE Roofing Manufacturing became largest producer of saturated felt in Southeast. ! 1978: Developed Southpoint, a 410-acre mixed use office center. ! 1970-80’s: Expanded convenience stores into Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Kentucky, Virginia, Tennessee, Virginia and Louisiana. ! 1980: Acquired Houdaille Duval Wright and Jacksonville’s Prestressed Concrete plant. In years to follow, acquired a structural precast plant in Pearland, Texas and purchased first architectural precast plant in Monroeville, Ala. ! 1983: Acquired the Stockton, Whatley & Davin (SWD) property which included Ponte Vedra Inn & Club, Deerwood Country Club and Ponte Vedra Realty as well as undeveloped property which GATE later developed into Deerwood Park Office Center, Tinseltown, Old Ponte Vedra Beach, Kendall Town Center and The Shoppes of Ponte Vedra. John Peyton President
John Peyton returned to GATE Petroleum Company in October 2011 after serving two terms as Mayor of the City of Jacksonville. No stranger to GATE, Peyton worked in the family business from 1989 to 2002 serving as division manager for the Florida retail division and later vice president. Peyton is an alumnus of Mercer University and Harvard Business School Executive Education Program. He has also participated in both Leadership Jacksonville and Leadership Florida. He has been actively involved in the community prior to being mayor, including serving as chairman of the Jacksonville Transportation Agency, Jacksonville Symphony Association and Greenscape of Jacksonville. In 2006, President George W. Bush appointed Peyton to the board of trustees of the Harry S. Truman Scholarship Foundation. Peyton is married to Dr. Kathryn Pearson Peyton. They are the proud parents of two boys, Connor (6) and Kent (4). ###

T. Mitchell Rhodes Chief Operating Officer
A second generation GATE employee, Mitchell Rhodes has been an integral force in the growth and development of GATE’s convenience store operation. He joined GATE in 1966 as a service station attendant and has served the company in various capacities throughout his professional career. Most recently President of the GATE Marketing Division, Rhodes has overseen two retail divisions which are comprised of all the service station/convenience store operations in five Southeastern states. In this capacity, he has been responsible for all operations of the stores including acquisition and construction of new units, remodeling and renovating existing units and day-to-day business. Rhodes is an alumnus the University of Georgia and the Harvard Business School Executive education program. He and his wife Kathy Rhodes reside in Ponte Vedra Beach and are the proud parents of a daughter, Alexis. ###
