Gathering Apron Instructions PRESS HEMS & FOLDS 1.) Fold & Press in Half Lengthwise: 2 necktie pieces & 2 tie ends 2.) Press a ⅝” Seam On: Bottom and 2 sides of skirt; 2 sides of bib 3.) Fold and press top of bib at ¼” & 1 ½”.
SEW ALL PREPS TO THIS POINT 1.) Necktie- Stitch each piece along one end at ⅜“, turn at corner, stitch down along the long side at ⅜” 2.) Tie Ends- Stitch short end on the diagonal, turn at corner, sew down along the long side at ⅜” 3,) Skirt- Sew 3 sides at ⅝” hems with mitred corners; 2 gathering rows at the top at ⅝” & ¼" 4.) Bib- 2 side hems; Top hem ¼” above the bottom of the fold; ¼” stitch across the top; 2 gathering rows at the bottom at ⅝” & ¼”
PRESS & PREP WAISTBANDS PART ONE 1.) Pull up the gathers on the bib and skirt. 2.) Turn & press the necktie pieces & 2 tie ends. 3.) Pin tie ends to #ONE waistband, RIGHT sides matching, ⅝” from top, seam down, raw edges lined up. 4.) Press up ⅝” on #TWO waistband. 5.) Mark in 3” on each side. Pin WRONG side of bib to RIGHT side of #TWO waistband at the 3” marks.
SEW WAISTBANDS PART ONE 1.) Stitch tie ends to #ONE waistband. 2.) Sew bib to #TWO waistband at ⅝”.
PRESS & STITCH WAISTBANDS PART TWO 1.) Press #ONE waistband sides in at ¼", turn in another ¼”, press and pin. 2.) Press #TWO waistband & bib seam open. 3.) Stitch #ONE waistband sides.

PRESS & STITCH WAISTBANDS PART THREE 1.) Pin #ONE waistband to gathered edge of skirt, RIGHT sides together 2.) Sew ⅝” seam, press seam UP. 3.) Find the centers on the #ONE waistband & bib. 4.) Pin BOTTOM seam end of bib to TOP #ONE waistband on skirt, RIGHT sides together, centers matching 5.) Stitch 5 /8” seam
FINAL ASSEMBLY & BUTTONHOLES 1.) Trim out bulk on seams near waistband if necessary 2.) Lay the loose #TWO waistband flat & pin the turned in edge to the skirt/waistband gathered seam. 3.) Turn in the open side seam on the #TWO waistband 4.) Topstitch waistband on all sides ¼” from the edge. 5.) Buttonholes for 3 /4” grosgrain ribbon- 2 just to left and right of skirt bottom center- 2 on bottom skirt corners - 2 just to left and right of waistband center
FINAL TOUCHES 1.) Slipstitch openings on* Bib top, * Waistband sides, * Two necktie pieces, * Waistband back 2.) Cut buttonholes 3.) Insert necktie 4.) Check for exposed stitches, security, repairs
