Further study options The Diploma in General Studies will support you in your transition to university or employment. Depending on your academic performance, it may give you guaranteed entry into a University of Melbourne bachelors degree (see table below). You could also be eligible for credit towards your degree, depending on the subjects you have taken, meaning you can study a lighter course load or even finish your degree early. If you progress to the Bachelor of Agriculture, you could receive credit for most of your first-year subjects. To be eligible for the guarantee, you must be eligible for Access Melbourne at the time you apply for the Diploma in General Studies. For more information about Access Melbourne visit: access.unimelb.edu.au Q Guaranteed scores apply only for those eligible for Access Melbourne at the time of application for the Diploma in General Studies.



Students without a 25 in VCE Mathematical Methods 3/4 cannot meet the mathematics prerequisites for the Bachelor of Commerce, Bachelor of Biomedicine or Bachelor of Science using MAST10017, and must meet the prerequisite in other ways, for example, via Calculus and Probability Online or Unilearn Senior Mathematics. See: coursesearch.unimelb.edu.au/undergrad/1842-diplomain-general-studies. If one of first year Biology or first year Chemistry has been used to meet the laboratory science prerequisite for the Bachelor of Science, or first year Chemistry has been used to meet the Chemistry prerequisite for Bachelor of Biomedicine, then no credit for that subject can be taken into the degree.

Fees

Direct entry and Victorian Tertiary Admissions Centre (VTAC) applications are accepted. Applications from mature-age applicants are welcome. Indigenous students and students from or disadvantaged backgrounds are encouraged to apply.

All students receive a Commonwealth Supported Place (CSP). You will pay a contribution amount which is determined each year by the Australian Government and the subjects in which you enrol. In 2017 the student contribution amount for this course was $8613.

Scholarships Scholarships are available for the Diploma in General Studies, with additional allocations for Indigenous students. Scholarships may be worth up to $5000 and can be used to contribute to your study costs, such as student services and amenities fees, books, discipline-specific equipment and technological devices.
