The Genesee Agricultural Poultry Association (GAPA) will be holding an Open Poultry Show on the same day and at the same location as our 4-H poultry Show. This show is open to both Adult and Youth Exhibitors.
Any youth with birds entered in the 4-H show can enter those birds in their show for no additional charge! For more info on the GAPA show contact Bob Berkemeier @ 585-969-0900
Poultry Show Rules -
The show is open to all youth 19 years of age and under. Participants do not have to be a 4-H member. All animals are entered and shown at the risk of the owner. All Poultry Must Be Tested Pullorum-Typhoid Clean – including any birds for sale. Pullorum tests are valid for 1 year from date of issue (DOI) if done at your residence or 90 days from DOI if done at another location / clinic. Send a copy of the Pullorum certificate with entry. Waterfowl do not need to be Pullorum tested. Large fowl, Bantams, Waterfowl, Guineas and Turkeys accepted. State on entry blank whether you are showing large fowl or bantams. Entries not marked will be considered large fowl and will be so entered. Birds showing signs of sickness or disease at health check or during the show will be removed from the show room at the discretion of the Show Officials and entry fee will be forfeited. Showroom opens at 7:30 AM. Birds must be cooped by 9:00 AM. Judging will start immediately after GAPA. Poultry Show Cages will be set up and assigned by Show Secretary. Water cups will be provided. All Poultry Awards will be given out after the completion of both shows. This show will be judged by: American Poultry Assoc. (APA) and American Bantam Assoc. (ABA) Book of Standards

Age Groups: 10 and under; 11 – 14; 15 – 19 Awards for Champion and Reserve Champion in each age group *** Please bring a bird that is not completing in the show for showmanship ***
GAPA will be holding additional youth contests – please see their catalog for details Pet Class: will be judged on personality and condition and is reserved for animals that are not eligible to compete in the purebred classes. Limit 1 pet per exhibitor. There is no pet class in the GAPA show.
How to Fill Out the Entry Form Breed: This is the breed as defined in the APA and ABA Standard. Variety: This is usually the color. It may also include the comb type. Bearded / Non-Bearded: A cluster of feathers found on the upper throat of some breeds. This category of variety pertains mostly to the breeds of Polish and Silkies that have both bearded and non-bearded colors. Cock: A male bird one year old or older. Hen: A female bird one year old or older.
Cockerel: A male bird less than one year old. Pullet: A female bird less than one year old.
