GEOMETRY SYLLABUS Teachers: Mr. Duggar & Mr. Bruce
Purpose of the Course: The Geometry course will teach and cover to concepts of geometric thinking and spatial reasoning, geometric figures (in 2 and 3 dimensions) and their properties, the relationship between geometry and other disciplines of mathematics and geometric structure. We will cover logical reasoning and problem solving, patterns and size, coordinate systems, congruence, similarity, patterns, transformations, and introduce trigonometric functions and concepts. TUTORIALS
MY INDIVIDUAL TEACHER REQUIREMENTS Before retesting you will: 1. Correct every problem you missed following the correction format guidelines. Staple your corrections to the front of the assignment. 2. Ensure your composition book is up to date for the Unit. If not, you will redo your notes for the Unit. 3. Submit a request to Retest form signed by you parent/guardian. 4. Attend a tutorial session to review the first three requirements & schedule your Retest 5. Retake the test. To improve a daily or quiz grade you will: Correct the original assignment following the correct format guidelines, stapled to assignment, with parent signature.
Tutorials are highly recommended for everyone!! There is a sign-in sheet that must be signed when you come to tutorials. Sometimes your teacher is your best resource for help – come see us! When YOUR GEOMETRY teacher is not available please see another GEOMETRY teacher for help. If for some reason he is not available, please see any other math teacher.

CLASSROOM RULES ☺ Be prepared for class. ☺ Be responsible for your actions. No excuses! ☺ Use polite speech and body language. ☺ Listen carefully and follow directions. ☺ Bring your “A-Game” everyday!!
General Classroom Procedures: ● ● ●
Class begins when the tardy bell rings. All pencils need to be sharpened, homework ready to be graded, and composition book open and ready to take notes. Tardies: You will be tardy if you are not in the classroom when the tardy bell rings. No exceptions. You may use only a pencil in this class since that is what you use on your STAAR test. Any assignments, including tests, completed in ink will receive a 10 point deduction. You may purchase pencils for 25¢.
Homework: ● ●
Always due the next class day, unless instructed differently by the teacher. Quiz questions almost always come from homework problems.
Quizzes: ●
If you are absent the day of a quiz, it is your responsibility to come to tutorials to take it.
Tests: ● ●
If you are absent the day of a test, it is your responsibility to come to tutorials to take the test. If you are absent the day of the review, you are still required to take the test the next day you are back.
Absences: ● ● ●
You are allowed one day extra per day absent to turn in absent work. Please see the Student Handbook for a more detailed explanation of this policy. It is your responsibility to pick it up; you will not be reminded. If you know you will be absent ahead of time, it is to your advantage to pick up your assignments prior to being absent as well as attending tutorials for assistance.
SUPPLIES FOR GEOMETRY Must have supplies by Monday, August 29th at the very latest. 2 Composition Books (100 sheets - be careful, they sell 80 sheets) Loose leaf notebook paper Pencils for assignments, tests, quizzes I have a class set of protractors & compasses; you may want a cheap set for home or school $7 Math Department calculator fee (Cash or checks payable to Tarkington ISD are accepted.) Optional Donations: tissues, colored copy paper for extra credit.
