Reading Program at the South Shore Y
program for children entering kindergarten through second grade. For those entering Kindergarten, the program will focus on Kindergarten sight words, pre-reading skills, blending sounds, phonics and the love of reading. *Children in the Universal Pre–K program will be taken directly to the reading class at dismissal by the teacher.
MEET SARI MARINO-O’KEEFE who was a teacher with the NYC Department of Education for 15 years. After taking a childcare leave from the DOE, she has returned to her passion as a teacher at the South Shore YMCA. Sari has her master’s degree in Early Childhood Literacy and was a literacy staff developer for several years. In this capacity, she assisted teachers in preparing engaging literacy lessons. She has also imparted her own love of books to both teachers and children. Meets: From:
