Getting a Little Cheeky With Tube Mascara Tube mascara is the latest craze that was first introduced over two years ago. Even though this type of mascara has been on the market for a relatively long period of time, not everyone has tried it, myself included, and so the novelty and curiosity still have not quite worn off. For those still unfamiliar with tube mascara, it is a new type of mascara that forms tiny water-resistant tubes around your lashes for long-lasting hold. The tubes bind to your lashes and won't run, smudge, clump, or flake, even if you cry or rub your eyes. The biggest bonus is that it allows for easy removal, something long desired by millions of women.
Based on this description, this sounds like a product that is a must-have for any bride, allergy-prone individual, klutz, or just about any woman who has ever left in the morning with perfect lashes only to be greeted at noon by a raccoon staring back from the bathroom mirror, or worse, seeing the reflection of someone with nonexistent lashes since their mascara has completely worn off. Oh, the horror! Let’s be honest, we have all experienced the dilemma often attributed to mascara. We love the idea of having longer lashes, more volume, or darker lashes but what we end up with is a product that either smudges by mid-morning or wears off completely by the time we get home. So we end up trying mascara after mascara only to experience one failure after another. $100 later, we’re left a little poorer, somewhat disheartened, and maybe a bit cheated but find enough strength to persevere, maybe even kick it up a notch, and go another route by investing in waterproof mascara.
The thing with waterproof mascara is while it does stay on, it can take a whole lot of effort to take it off. In our desperation to get to bed and get some much-needed shuteye, we end up spending large quantities of time trying any and all products deemed eye makeup remover worthy to eradicate this harsh waterproof mascara we applied 18 hours earlier. Still unable to get this miracle product off our faces, we next attack our kitchen cabinets and start whipping up DIY recipes we find while conducting Google searches. What we find is Vaseline doesn’t work, neither does baking soda paste, nor sugar scrub. We feel defeated and end up going to bed with raw skin, red eyes, and thick black lashes while licking our wounds which there are plenty of. My sure fire method for removing this type of mascara? Have a restless night of sleep, spending hours tossing and turning in bed all night. But that too doesn’t always result in a happy ending either. In the morning, you awake to mascarasmudged pillows, dark circles under your eyes, dry patchy skin, and irritated eyes. You are not exactly face-ready for work or school.
But just how do you go about choosing the right tube mascara without having to go through the same process as you have done for years with regular mascara? My advice? Instead of buying tube mascara blindly, or the most expensive because it’s bound to work, or the cheapest because what do you have to lose, besides your lashes, try to read up on which brands make the best product along with reviews from users revealing the good, the bad, and the ugly. After some preliminary research, I have uncovered that prices range from $6.39, for your drugstore brands all the way up to $45 for the most luxury brands found in department stores or cosmetic specialty stores. I have also learned that Blinc is the company that first introduced tube mascara to the masses.
As pioneers of the product, Blinc has taken a lead in the market by having the greatest variety in tube mascaras and also offer colored mascara in colors like green and purple. Since I have been looking for purple mascara ever since one of my favorite brands discontinued theirs, because the reviews for Blinc are very good, and their prices are reasonable, I think I have found my new mascara. My only hope is their claim that all it takes is the combination of warm water and gentle pressure, from fingertips or a washcloth is truly all I need to make sure the tubes slide off my lashes effortlessly, If this turns out to be true, I can finally go to sleep on time, awake with skin-colored under eyes, and not have to change my pillowcase in the morning.
