GAME NOTES OPENING TIP Gettysburg squares off with Bryn Mawr in a non-conference match up today inside Bream Gym. ALL-TIME SERIES Gettysburg is 30-0 in a series that began in 1993-94. The Bullets have allowed Bryn Mawr to reach 40 points just once in the last nine meetings. LAST MEETING The Bullets put up a season high 82 points in an 82-29 rout of Bryn Mawr last season. The hosts jumped out to a 20-2 lead after posting eight steals in the first five minutes of action. Gettysburg set season highs for field goals made (34), rebounds (54), offensive rebounds (25), assists (23), and steals (17) in the win. Caroline Murphy ’14 posted 17 points in 21 minutes to pace the Bullets. Samantha Pagel ’15 added 10 points and Jessica Porter ’16 contributed 13 points and six rebounds off the bench. LAST TIME OUT Gettysburg out-scored Franklin & Marshall 45-23 in the second half en route to a 79-55 victory on Tuesday. The Bullets canned 18of-31 (58.1 percent) of their shots from the floor in the second period and finished shooting 50 percent from the field for the game. Junior Jessica Porter was on fire, netting a career-high 28 points after finishing 13-of-24 from the floor. Freshman Annie Reilly also posted a personal high with a dozen points and blocked three shots.
NATIONAL RANKS Gettysburg ranks seventh in the nation in scoring defense (49.1 ppg), second in defensive field-goal percentage defense (29.6 percent), and 10th in blocked shots (6.1 bpg). Gettysburg paces the Centennial Conference in all three of those categories as well as defensive rebounds per game (31.3). In the Bullets’ 12 victories, opponents have managed to shoot just 28.4 percent. RAISING THE BAR Junior Jessica Porter’s 28 points against F&M bested her previous collegiate high by six. Porter is in the midst of a career year with personal-high averages in nearly every statistical category. She currently ranks fifth in the conference in scoring (13.8 ppg), fourth in rebounding (7.5 rpg), and second in blocked shots (1.6 bpg). HELPING HAND Senior Jenna Swope has already established a career high with 54 assists this season. Swope ranks fifth in the conference with 3.2 assists per game and she has dished out at least two helpers in all but one contest this winter. SCOUTING BRYN MAWR... Bryn Mawr fell to Ursinus 84-19 on Thursday. The Bears scored 35 points off turnovers and out-scored the Owls 30-10 in the paint. Junior Veronicz Roux leads Bryn Mawr in both scoring and rebounding. She scored a team season-high 18 points and grabbed 10 rebounds in the Owls’ lone win over Cairn.
