GGSA Board Meeting Minutes for November 18, 2015, Nelson Library Board Members present: Karen Henning, Dick Cole, Alice Cole, Maria Valverde, Teddie Haggerty, Chad Baker, Phil Grass, Erik Moy; Others present: Peter Cardoza Proceedings: October minutes approved Treasurer’s report approved (including budget for 2016) Correspondences: Head of Massachusetts ASA has been removed. Phil Mackeroy is now temporary head of ASA. Peter Cardoza to attend December meeting on why softball participation down. GGSA: Gemme division fees discussion: $65 for before Dec. 15th. Karen suggested that that those who try out for middle school and don’t make it, should register for $65, if a player tries out and makes it, player then can pay $65. If player did not try out and did not make it and wants to play Gemme, will need to pay $85. A code is necessary for Gemme girls who have to pay $65 after Dec. 15th, and tried out for middle school team. Alice clarified that receivable amounts from 2015 are miscellaneous items and may or may not be collected. Teddie wants to add small business category for sponsors at $100. What will sponsor get for $100? Diamond sponsors to get a banner. Peter suggested a team plaque and Teddie suggested a window sticker. Other suggestions include having a board on the snack stand with a list of sponsors. Final recommendations: o Rec sponsor – front of t-shirt, raised to $300, logo scrolled on website o Diamonds sponsor – name on travel Diamond banner, $250, logo scrolled on website o Small business sponsor - $100, window decal, name on banner (banner to be determined), ‘small business sponsors?”, also on website somehow o $500 gets you team, t-shirt, name on travel banner o Banner at Nelson for summer with all sponsors Three versions of sponsor letter, will make online versions 2016 budget accepted by board Registration for 2016 – Maria handed out division enrollments North Street Elem School – informational meeting on GGSA, 19 November GGSA signs are posted around Grafton Field bathrooms are set for winter, water will be shut Snack shack cleaned out, Dick Cole to finish winter prep Discussion on what type of vehicle to buy for dragging the fields, will sell 4-wheeler and buy more ‘golf-like’ cart. Options: o John Deere or Toro Sandpro, can be used for infields, four or three wheels, good turning radius, used ones for $4500 and up, storage space may be an issue o Lawn tractor, good turning radius, brand new for $4500 or less Dick Cole would like to purchase picnic tables for field, $200 for fold type. Dick will finalize pricing information.
Peter Cardoza mentioned a right field fence for Field 1 might be something to consider.
Diamonds Program Update:
$4000 gap in funding – should be covered by 14U tournament Diamond payments ahead of schedule, many have paid Tournaments – 5 teams left to pay for 14U tournament 12U tournament has 6 teams so far 10U has 3 teams so far Taunton has 10U and 12U states this year Uniform pants – color to be decided by committee, parent(s) will be charged, and pants are kept
