Season 2017/18 Role Description – National Coach Various Categories Current Vacancies: Men and Ladies Men’s Under 18 Girls Under 18
Boys Under 16 Girls Under 16
Summary: The primary role of National side coaches is to provide the players of the National side a decent level of coaching and knowledge, while aligning their practices with relevant Gibraltar Hockey policies. As Coach you are responsible for the delivery of all trainings and game preparation for your team.
Responsible To: Coaches are responsible to the Gibraltar Hockey Council.
Tasks All Coaches should: • Attend the fixtures and trainings of their category. • Assist with the fixtures and trainings of other categories when required (the same commitment will be given to you by fellow coaches). • Encourage all players to obtain a suitable level of fitness by attending fitness trainings provided by the National side. • Adhere to the council’s selection policy throughout the selection process • Display a high level of communication with the other fellow coaches • Provide meaningful player performance feedback, with assistance from the other coaches. • Support the council’s policies, procedures and decisions
Appoint a team manager and other coaching/management staff in consultation and with approval of the council.
As a representative of Gibraltar Hockey, coaches must take professional responsibility for their role at all games and trainings.

Benefits: Being a National coach of a Gibraltar Hockey side is an opportunity for personal and professional development, complimented with the opportunity to contribute to the overall development of hockey within Gibraltar. • Remuneration may be provided commensurate to experience and on agreement of terms • Provided with the National sides apparel and access to equipment during their contract • Opportunity to experience a leadership role, and exposure to seasonal and National sides planning processes. • Opportunity to work in a positive and encouraging environment. • Publicly acknowledged for contributions to the National sides.
Essential Criteria: • Working with children safeguarding certification and Police check • Communication and planning skills • Access to phone and internet
Desirable Criteria: • Level 1 coach accreditation (or above) • Previous experience as a coach • Previous experience as a coach within Gibraltar Hockey • Good working knowledge of Gibraltar Hockey policies including rules and the duties of all management positions and sub-committees.
Appointment Terms and Time Commitment Required • Coaches are elected by the Gibraltar Hockey council and are appointed for a term of 24 months.
