Girls Varsity Ice Hockey 2002, 2013, & 2014 NESPAC Division II Champions The Girls’ Hockey team at The Gunnery has a proud tradition of success and each year competes with the best teams from Division I and II programs in the New England Preparatory School Athletic Council (NEPSAC). The Gunnery has won three championships (2002, 2013, 2014) and made numerous final four appearances. The Gunnery team plays 26 to 30 games annually and goes to the Southfield Christmas Tournament. This tournament consistently draws many scouts and coaches from the best Division I and III colleges in the country. In Division I the Highlanders play Taft, Hotchkiss, Westminster, Williston Northampton and Loomis, as well as others. In Division II Gunnery plays Millbrook, St. George’s, and Kingswood-Oxford. All of these teams are perennial contenders to make the New England Playoffs. Graduates have gone on to play Division I and III hockey at colleges throughout the Northeast and in Canada – including Trinity, Holy Cross, Quinnipiac, Union, Hamilton, Bowdoin, and Connecticut College. Meet The Coaches Head Coach: ​ Kiernan Joyce 860-868-7334 ​ -​ [email protected] ​ Coach Joyce joined the Highlander coaching staff in 2015. He is a graduate of Loomis Chaffee School and Curry College where he majored in English and played Hockey and Lacrosse. Since graduation, Mr. Joyce has taught English at Southbridge High School and English and Western Civilization at Catholic Memorial School. He has also served as a Program Director for The Cannonball Foundation, Assistant Boys Hockey Coach for Catholic Memorial School, and most recently worked as a Coach, Recruiter, and College Counselor for the Boston Junior Bruins and a scout for the Sherbrooke Phoenix of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.

Assistant Coach: Jed Stuart 860-868-7334 ext. 209​ -​ [email protected] Coach Stuart has been on the Girls Varsity Ice Hockey coaching staff since the 2013-14 season when the girls won their last New England Championship. Coach Stuart is a graduate of The Gunnery and after attended Hobart College where he played tennis and club ice hockey. After graduation, Mr. Stuart coached the Hobart club team while working in the admissions office. Prior to his time with the girls, Coach Stuart coached the Boys’ JV Team at The Gunnery for six years. Coach Stuart captained the Queensbury Spartan Ice Hockey Team their inaugural year and during his time on the ice at The Gunnery was selected to participate in the All- New England game. In addition to ice hockey, Coach Stuart is the Boys’ Varsity Tennis coach.

Assistant Coach: Paige Decker Ms. Decker is a 2014 graduate of Yale University, where she was a member of the Varsity Women’s Ice Hockey team, a four-time ECAC All-Academic team selection, and winner of the Thomas W.
