Dear Little League Baseball Player: For years, SGT Steven DeLuzio played baseball in Glastonbury. He made the All-Star Team as a 12-year old. Before his deployment to Afghanistan in 2009, Steven coached Glastonbury Little League teams and was one of the coaches for the 2009 town championship team. He was a leader and admired by friends and family alike. He graduated from the University of Hartford, Cum Laude with the promise of a strong secure future as an accountant. SGT DeLuzio had a strong love of God, family, and country which drew him to military service in 2005. Steven always tried his best and made the ultimate sacrifice for his country on August 22, 2010. It is the mission of the SGT Steven J. DeLuzio Memorial Scholarship Fund to keep his spirit alive through scholarships and charitable donations. This scholarship is awarded to a Glastonbury Little League Major League 12-year old who shares Steven’s love of sports and demonstrates the values by which he lived his life. These values include teamwork, leadership, maturity, fairness, competitiveness, valor, humor, selflessness, and service to community. We would be pleased to consider your application for a $2,000 college scholarship based on a coach’s recommendation and your personal character. If you are interested, please complete the scholarship application and ask one of your coaches to complete the appropriate recommendation form. Please be sure that this information is returned to us by the scholarship deadline of May 9.
