• Reamer • Reamer Jig • Guide Pin
1. Disassembly a. Remove OE retainer, solenoid, valve and spring from bore. b. Measure OE valve to determine correct Sonnax replacement (Figure 1).
NOTE: This tool kit can also be used to install 5L40-E, 5L50-E oversized TCC control and enable valve kit 55211-22K. Sonnax “F-Tool” kits designed to service a specific bore require the VB-FIX, a selfaligning valve body reaming fixture. More information and instructions can be found online at www.sonnax.com. Use Sonnax 55211-04K.
.476" dia. Use Sonnax 55211-24K.
c. Retain OE solenoid for reuse, discard other OE parts. 2. Bore Reaming Ream TCC bore (for reaming instructions/reamer care, please visit www.sonnax.com). Sonnax reaming tool kit F-55211-TL22 and VB-FIX are required for this operation. CAUTION
NOTE: Suggest remounting the VB-FIX base plate 90o from its standard position for 55211-24K reaming process (Figure 2). Use the four holes in front plate as a guide to drill and tap new holes for the socket head screws. Tap 5/16–18 UNC at least 3/4" deep. If the VB-FIX is not modified as suggested, the casting is not supported properly in the area of the TCC bore. This will result in bore distortion and loose sleeves.

Rotate the VB-FIX Base Plate to fit as shown here.
3. Installation & Assembly a. Be certain all debris has been removed from valve bore and valve body. b. Insert Sonnax spring into the long, internal pocket in valve. c. Push Sonnax valve/sleeve/spring assembly into reamed bore, as shown above. The sleeve end with two notches should go inboard, and the end with four notches should face outboard.
d. Install small Sonnax retaining clip into inboard sleeve groove. e. Install Sonnax solenoid protector into sleeve, ensuring tangs are seated in the four sleeve notches. #194 Dremel® Bit
f. Return OE solenoid to valve bore. The solenoid snout should contact Sonnax solenoid protector. g. Install Sonnax solenoid retaining clip. h. If Sonnax retainer does not fit into the solenoid groove, use a #194 Dremel® bit and remove only enough material from inboard casting walls to allow sleeve to set deeper. This will allow solenoid to move inward as well. 4. Final Testing A vacuum test at the port indicated holds 18 in-Hg or more.
