Gmail Filters Quick Way to Organize Inbox
The first step is to select an email that you would like to put in a separate folder. Open the email and go to the “More” drop down menu. Click on the “Filter messages like these” options.
You will see this screen when you click the “Filter messages like these” option. From here you can set it to filter by a certain sender, recipient, subject, and keywords. For this one I’m going to use from a certain email. So any emails from
[email protected] will be sent to their own folder. After picking the search options click on the “Create filter with this search >>” button
This bring up a menu for you to choose what you want to be done with the emails. I’m going to choose “skip the inbox(Archive it)”. This will keep it out of your inbox and will take it directly to another folder. The other thing I want to do is click on the “Apply the label” option.
This will bring up you list of folders in your email for you to choose. It also gives you the option to create a new one if you would like. I’m going to create a new label named TEST
In this screen you can name your new label. Also if you would like it to be in afolder inside an existing folder, then you can check the “Nest label under “ option and select from the drop down list the folder you would like it in. Then click the “Create” button.
That will bring you back to your options menu. When done selecting options click the “Create filter” button.
After creating the filter it will take you back to the email you started with. Go back to your inbox and you can look down the list on the left side of the screen to find the new folder. The one I just created is named “TEST” and is high lighted in this picture.
From this point on any emails I receive from
[email protected] will go directly to this folder.
This is quick simple guide for setting filters in your email. I hope it helps you keep your inbox organized.
