God has been on mission since the fall of man. God’s plan: • Reveal Himself • Radical dependency and trust • Be a blessing It’s not what you know, it’s what you do with what you know that makes an eternal difference. The guarantee of the Gospel That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved. Romans 10:9-10 Two truths about Jesus Christ that must be believed in order to be saved: • Jesus is Lord • God raised Him from the dead “You believe that there is one God. Good! Even the demons believe that – and shudder.” James 2:19 “In other words, demons are monotheists. Satan and his fallen angels are also confirmed creationists, having watched God form the heavens and the earth simply by speaking them into existence. Demons have observed more of God’s work and know more about His nature and power than all human beings combined, apart from the incarnate Christ. And, having originally dwelt there, they know exactly what heaven is like. They also know with great certainty that they are destined for judgment, and, knowing something of what judgment means, they “shudder.”” John MacArthur “Lord” (kurios), which speaks of sovereign power and authority. New Testament: • 16 verses where Jesus is referred to as “Savior.” • 573 verses where Jesus is referred to as “Lord.” The Inclusivity of the Gospel As the Scripture says, "Anyone who trusts in him will never be put to shame." For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile--the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him, for, "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved." Romans 10:11-13 The inclusivity of the Gospel means that: • everyone is created in the image of God (Gen 1:27) • everyone is a sinner and deserves God’s wrath (1 Cor 15:22;Rom 3:23;Rom 3:10) • everyone is invited to receive the Gospel (1 Tim 2:5-6) The Exclusivity of the Gospel Brothers, my heart's desire and prayer to God for the Israelites is that they may be saved. For I can testify about them that they are zealous for God, but their zeal is not based on

knowledge. Since they did not know the righteousness that comes from God and sought to establish their own, they did not submit to God's righteousness. Christ is the end of the law so that there may be righteousness for everyone who believes. Moses describes in this way the righteousness that is by the law: “The man who does these things will live by them.” Romans 10:1-5 “The ignorance of which Paul speaks is not an academic illiteracy but a basic failure to grasp the significance of data readily available to them in the Scriptures they prize so highly. Ironically, they are ignorant despite the fact that they are informed.” Stuart Briscoe “For whoever keeps the whole law and yet stumbles at just one point is guilty of breaking all of it.” James 2:20 But the righteousness that is by faith says: “Do not say in your heart, ‘Who will ascend into heaven?’” (that is, to bring Christ down) “or ‘Who will descend into the deep?’” (that is, to bring Christ up from the dead). Romans 10:6-7 But what does it say? “The word is near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart,” that is, the word of faith we are proclaiming: That if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.” Romans 10:8-9 You would think that Israel as a nation would have been eagerly expecting the arrival of their Messiah and been prepared to receive Him. For centuries they had known the Old Testament prophecies and had practiced the Law, which was "a schoolmaster" to lead them to Christ (Gal. 3:24). God had sought to prepare the nation,… …but when Jesus Christ came, they rejected Him. "He came unto His own [world] and His own [people] received Him not" (John 1:11). To be sure, there was a faithful remnant in the nation that looked for His arrival, such as Simeon and Anna (Luke 2:25-38); but the majority of the people were not ready when He came. Warren Wiersbe “For my Father’s will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in Him shall have eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day.” John 6:40 “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” John 14:6 “Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.” Matthew 7:13-14 “Very truly I tell you, I am the gate for the sheep.” John 10:7 God’s way is Jesus Christ. “Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.” Acts 4:12 God’s way requires a person to call

How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? And how can they preach unless they are sent? As it is written, "How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!" Romans 10:14-15 God’s way requires a person to tell How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard?
