RELATE In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. What things did God create in the beginning? Allow answers. Good answers. God made the land, the sky, animals, and plants. Read Genesis 1:26. What did God create last? Allow answers. Right—the first man and woman, Adam and Eve. They lived in the garden of Eden in perfect relationship with God. But something happened. Read Genesis 3:6. Adam and Eve disobeyed God, and sin entered the world. But God made a plan to bring people back into a restored relationship with Him.

God has always been and will always be. The same God who spoke everything in the world into existence also created us. He was, He is, and He always will be.

Genesis 2:7 says God breathed life into the first man, Adam. Today, lead your kids in an experiment in which they try to breathe life into a balloon in a bottle.

Genesis 2:7 says God breathed life into the first man, Adam. Today, lead your kids in an experiment in which they try to breathe life into a balloon in a bottle.

Give a balloon to a volunteer and help him to put it inside the empty bottle, stretching the neck over the bottle opening. Then ask the child to try to blow up the balloon (he won’t be able to). Next, use the bottle with a hole in it for the same experiment. Invite the same child to try to blow up the balloon again. This time the experiment should work, because some of the air previously trapped in the bottle escaped through the hole, making room for the balloon to be inflated. Allow additional children to try blowing up balloons inside the bottle if you have time.
