The Lead The Clarion Golden Eagles return home for their final night game of the season when they host the California (Pa.) Vulcans at Memorial Stadium on Saturday, Oct. 15. Kickoff time is scheduled for 6 p.m. Clarion will honor the members of the undefeated 1966 football team in a pregame ceremony. Mike Kalinowski and Joe Lodanosky will have the radio call for the game on 92.9 WCCR-FM and 96.3 WKQWFM an hour before kickoff. Live audio streaming will be available on ClarionGoldenEagles.com. The game will be aired live on SPORTSfever and as such will also be available on the Watch ESPN app. Series History This will be the 86th meeting between Clarion and California (Pa.), with the Vulcans owning a 44-38-3 record in the all-time series with the Golden Eagles. Clarion has not topped California (Pa.) since a 35-34 win in the 2004 season, with the Vulcans winning 11 straight meetings since then. In their last meeting the Vulcans won a high-scoring affair, defeating Clarion 42-28 at Adamson Stadium. Clarion tried to rally back from a large deficit in the second half in the midst of a constant rain. Delrece Williams had 112 rushing yards and a touchdown, while Kevin Genevro had six catches for 87 yards and two scores. Scouting the Vulcans California (Pa.) is ranked 15th in the most recent AFCA coaches’ poll taken on Oct. 3, and 16th in the D2Football. com poll taken the next day. The Vulcans lead the PSAC in both scoring offense (56.4 points/game) and scoring defense (14.8 points/game). The Vulcans feature a balanced attack that is led by quarterback Michael Keir, who has thrown 18 touchdowns and just three interceptions so far this year. Seven different players have scored rushing touchdowns and seven more have added receiving scores this year. The defense has forced 13 turnovers in five games and is averaging 4.0 sacks/game. Last Week Clarion suffered its second straight loss Saturday afternoon, falling on the road to Seton Hill by a final of 27-23. In his first career start, Jeff Clemens threw for 127 yards and two touchdowns, and added a one-yard rushing touchdown to his stat-line as well. Wide reciever Kevin Genevro led the Eagles in receiving with five catches, two touchdowns, and 69 total yards. On the defensive side of the ball, linebacker Jacob Craig led the team with 12 total tackes, including four solo tackles and three pass breakups. Myles Edmonds and Quinlin Lambert each recorded seven solo tackles as well. The first half was a back-and-forth affair, though Clarion entered the fourth quarter with a 23-10 lead over the Griffins. Seton Hill responded with 17 points in the final frame to take the win. First Time Around Redshirt freshman quarterback Jeff Clemens made his first career start on Saturday in place of Connor Simmons, and the Wexford, Pa. native acquitted himself well in the face of a hostile road crowd. He completed 16 of 32 passes for 176 yards, two touchdowns and - most importantly - no interceptions against the Griffins. He also called his own number in the first half, scoring on a one-yard quarterback keeper for a touchdown. Clemens previously saw action twice this season. He came in late against Lock Haven in the season opener on Sept. 1, and was next seen completing both passes he

The senior receiver now has 136 career receptions - 4th in program history - and 2,167 career receiving yards, good for fifth on the all-time list. He passed Ron Urbansky for sole possession of that spot in the game against the Griffins. Though he’s been kept out the endzone in each of the last three games, Lehman is still on pace to tie or break the all-time receiving touchdowns mark. With 21 scores in his career, he’s tied for third in program history with Jim Becker. He needs two more to reach Alvin Slaughter and four more to tie Terry McFetridge’s mark of 25 set in 1985.

Lights, Camera, Action! Clarion University will continue its fruitful partnership with the Pennsylvania Sports Fever Television Network in 2016, with three contests – 9/10 at Bloomsburg, 10/1 vs. Edinboro and 10/15 vs. California (Pa.) – airing live on affiliates across the state of Pennsylvania and made available to millions in the Keystone State. The selected games will also be streamed on ESPN3 via the Watch ESPN app.
