Instructions to complete “Golden Mandala” earrings: Large Component: Step 1 Thread a needle with a 4-foot length of beading thread (see Circular, Odd Count Peyote Stitch Technique). Step 2 Round 1: String six Aztec Gold SuperDuo beads, and tie a square knot with the tail and working thread. Step 3 String one 2mm etched Fire Polished bead, pull across center hole and pass through the third SuperDuo bead. Pass through two more SuperDuo beads to circle back to where you started. Reinforce the 2mm fire polish bead by passing back through the bead and circling back the opposite way. Turn and pass through the second hole of the SuperDuo bead exited from the opposite direction to step up to the second round. Step 4 Round 2: String two Aqua Picasso SuperDuo beads, and pass through the second hole of the next SuperDuo bead. Repeat five times around the circle. Pass through one more SuperDuo bead after the last stitch. Turn and pass through the second hole of that SuperDuo bead from the opposite direction. Step 5 Round 3: String one Aqua Picasso SuperDuo bead, and pass through the next SuperDuo bead. Repeat 12 times around the circle. Pass through the first SuperDuo strung in this row. Turn and pass through the second hole of that SuperDuo bead from the opposite direction. Step 6 Round 4: String two Aztec Gold SuperDuo beads, and pass through the second hole of the next SuperDuo bead. Repeat 12 times around the circle. Pass through the first SuperDuo strung in this row. Turn and pass through the second hole of that SuperDuo bead from the opposite direction. Step 7 Round 5: String one 2mm etched Fire Polished bead, and pass through the next SuperDuo bead. Repeat 11 times around the circle. String one Aztec Gold SuperDuo bead. Pass through the first Fire Polished bead strung. Step 8 Weave the thread back and forth through several beads, trim the thread. Small Component Step 1 Thread a needle with a 2-foot length of beading thread (see Circular, Odd Count Peyote Stitch Technique). Step 5 Round 3: String one 2mm etched Fire Polished bead, pass through the loop on your ear wire and string one 2mm etched Fire Polished bead and pass through the next SuperDuo bead. String one 2mm etched Fire Polished bead, and pass through the next SuperDuo bead. Repeat 4 times around the circle. String one 2mm etched Fire Polished bead, pass through the second hole on the SuperDuo bead on your large component and string one 2mm etched Fire Polished bead and pass through the next SuperDuo bead. String one 2mm etched Fire Polished bead, and pass through the next SuperDuo bead. Repeat 4 times around the circle. Reinforce the thread on this final round one or two times. Step 6 Weave the thread back and forth through several beads, trim the thread. Step 7 Repeat steps 1 – 6 for the second earring.
