Let us give thanks to God for the hope we have in him through Christ!
CHURCH of the COMMON GROUND NEWS Let There Be Rain… God gave us rain to nourish the Earth. But, no amount of rain could stop CCG’s commitment to each other and God at Morning Prayer during Holy Week.

Dear Beloved family of Common Ground, Do you ever wonder what it was really like in Jesus’ day? It was the Middle East. It was probably hot. It was probably dusty. Folks didn’t have vacuum cleaners and air conditioners to keep the dust and pollen away. They didn’t have toilets or plumbing. People worked hard and things weren’t always easy. When people in Jesus’ day got a bad cold or sick, it was probably really hard.
So, what if one of the disciples got sick one day? What do you think Jesus would do? Last Sunday I witnessed a tender act of compassion - a Jesus moment. It happened during the prayer circle. We stood in a large circle mostly with heads bowed. One person looked across the circle to see someone who had a nose running like Niagara Falls. The one who noticed quietly walked to other side of circle to hand him a Kleenex. I over heard him whisper, "here's a Kleenex Brother.“
Let There Be Candlelight… We’ve done it twice so now it’s officially a tradition….the Easter Vigil service was a beautiful worship!
I could almost hear Jesus’ voice at that moment. The offering of a Kleenex was a moment of a Jesus like Compassion. A Kleenex - a simple Kleenex given with care to a brother in need - that is God's love flowing through us. May we all use our "kleenexes" or a word or a smile to offer compassion.
Let There Be Compassion and Quiet Prayer… CCG remains committed to the Jesus way after Easter learning about mindful compassion. Lee Peyton leads the group each Thursday at 10:30am at Central Outreach. Sessions will continue thru Pentecost on June 4th. All are welcome.

The
People of Common Ground! A monthly installment of the CCG newsletter. The folks who participate in CCG have terrific stories to share. We hope you enjoy them.

Where were you born? I was born in Brooklyn, New York. How long have you lived in Atlanta? I have been here on and off for about ten years.
What is the best thing about Atlanta? I like the weather here and certain aspects of culture. There is more diversity here than I expected. It’s not as much diversity as New York but it’s pretty good. We pray this birthday will warm your heart and may God's warmth not ever depart.
Marcus
What do you like most about CCG? I like that it goes to the streets and doesn’t require a big assembly. We are welcomed with open arms. CCG seeks the truth.
Did You Know? How many of your CCG friends are also veterans?
We are proud of them and their service to their country. But some families and communities are not so fortunate and their loved ones in the service are no longer with us. In the late 1960s, Congress passed a law establishing the last Monday in May as a federally recognized holiday now known as Memorial Day. The day is one to remember those who have lost their lives in service to their country and to remember their families, too. Please remember them in your prayers. Learn more at: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Memorial_Day
If you would like your birthday listed in the CCG newsletter, please make sure to let one of the priests know what date it is.
