Announcements: Pastor Appreciation Month - During October, Pastor Appreciation Month, the SPRC team encourages the church family to bestow blessings on Rev. Richard and Kimberly through words of encouragement, random acts of kindness, and daily prayer support. Good Shepherd Fall-Fest 2017 and Chili Cook-Off -Saturday, October 21st, from 4:00pm-8:00pm at the Benton Ridge Village Park and Shelter House. Join us for great chili, exciting games (knocker ball, gaga ball and more), hayrides and a rustic bonfire complete with s’mores. Invite your friends and neighbors to this family friendly celebration! Register on-line now to enter your chili in the cook-off at www.focusonthecross.org Community Trunk or Treat – Saturday, October 28, in the Good Shepherd UMC Parking Lot – You are invited to come in costume (and decorate your car as well) to pass out candy to community children during Benton Ridge’s Trick or Treat night. Gather in our church parking lot either before, (4:45-5pm) or after (5:30-5:45) the town parade. Traffic to the lot closes at 6:00pm for safety’s sake. Please keep any costumes & decorations on the innocent/fun-side of things, avoiding the frightening aspects of the season.
Combined Worship Service and Carry-In Meal Good Shepherd will have a combined worship service and meal on October 29th beginning at 9:30 am. Beverages and table service will be provided for the meal, which immediately follows worship. Please bring two dishes to share (meat dishes and/or side dishes) and stay to enjoy fellowship time. Daylight Savings Time Ends ( November 5th , 2:00am) Remember to set your clocks back one hour STAND “Women’s Equipping Weekend” – Friday Nov. 10 – Saturday Nov. 11, Ft. Wayne, IN – visit 3dmstand.com/events for full info or see Kimberly for more details. “Stand” will tackle the questions of what it means to disciple others and become aware of the nitty-gritty of life-on-life discipleship. Ministry Opportunity: Are you being called to help the Food Box Ministry continue? Several area households are grateful for 6 food boxes each year. Our faithful “behind-the-scenes” servants are stepping down after the November distribution. We are looking for a new team to catch a vision and continue this valuable work…an SMG group….a family….a life group…or just a group of friends who care!
