GCU Dance Audition Guidelines • Must bring non-returnable photograph for identification purposes • Please bring a dance resume if you have one • Come dressed in attire that shows your shape • Wear dance shoes or sneakers that you feel comfortable performing in • If chosen, must be willing to put 100% into practices, performances, and appearances
Early-Registration Try-out Clinics (High school/ Non-GCU Students) Mon-Wed May 3-5 2010 Monday- May 3, 2010 Preliminary Tuesday- May 4, 2010 Semi-finals (Round One) Wednesday- May 5, 2010 Semi Finals (Round Two)
Preliminary Audition Schedule • Location - GCU Student Union • 6:30 PM - 7:00 PM - Registration • 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM – Preliminaries The preliminary round will consist of learning the audition routine which will include both jazz and hip hop choreography. Each dancer will have an opportunity to rehearse all the combinations in a small group setting. This portion will not be scored.
Semi-Finals Audition Schedule • Location: GCU Student Union • 6:45 PM - 7:00 PM - Warm-up/Stretch • 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM - Semi-Finals During the semi finals portion of the audition, you will be demonstrating your technical skills across the floor, showing strength and stamina in a fitness routine and final review of audition choreography.
Finals Audition Schedule Fall-Final Try-outs (GCU Students) Wed-Fri September 8-10 2010 Final Team will be determined Wednesday September 8, 2010 Preliminary Thursday September 9, 2010 Semi-finals Friday September 10, 2010 Final Auditions
• Location: GCU Student Union • 6:45 PM - 7:00 PM - Warm-up/Stretch • 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM - Final Auditions During the final audition process, dancers will be required to perform the two choreography combinations for the panel of judges in small groups. They will also be required to perform a 6-8 eight count combination of their choosing. This should demonstrate the dancer’s strengths and does not need to be original choreography.
