Why Grass & Ground Reinforcement ? There are many techniques for increasing the stability of low-load-bearing ground but most have been developed with paved areas and building in mind. It is only in the last thirty years or so that the demand has grown for unpaved solutions. Options that are more aesthetically pleasing than concrete and asphalt. Options that have longevity. Options that are the result of science. Terram solutions are predominantly natural green, some of which provide the option to use gravels instead of grass. It is possible now to construct paths, roads and car parks which are not only pleasing to the eye but retain their appearance and continue to perform when other non-engineered alternatives are worn and unattractive.

Why Fiberweb Geosynthetics Ltd and Terram products? Our products and systems have been developed with different trafficking requirements in mind. The demand can vary from occasional foot traffic to frequent, heavily-loaded vehicles so it’s important to deal with a company who can supply the full range of solutions rather than a one-size-fits-all approach. Fiberweb plc established Fiberweb Geosynthetics Ltd after the acquisition of Boddingtons International Ltd in 2010. The resulting portfolio includes the products for grass and ground reinforcement which were historically associated with Boddingtons. The UK manufacturing capability is being expanded and centralised at Maldon in Essex. Fiberweb Geosynthetics Ltd provides a unique range of value-engineered solutions that also help minimise the environmental impact of construction. With unrivalled expertise and experience in geosynthetics, accumulated over a 40 year period since Terram was first launched, the Company remains committed to the development of innovative and cost-effective geosynthetic solutions. The Company intends to lead the market in the design and manufacture of innovative geosynthetics, and continue to provide ground-breaking solutions - the next generation of Terram products.

BODPAVE®85 Line Markers

These plastic markers are for indicating parking bays & lines within areas of a BodPave®85 cellular paving system. The markers are designed to clip positively into the plaque shaped cells of the BodPave®85 and can be fitted in various orientations to create solid or dotted lines & ‘T’ or ‘L’ shapes etc for parking bay heads, aisles & junctions. In applications where there may be potential for the markers to be forcibly removed (i.e vandalised), it may be appropriate to fix them permanently in place by applying an appropriate proprietary high strength plastic (HDPE) glue or an ‘outdoor frame sealant’ type material to the underside of the marker when fitting.

GrassProtecta

®

Grass Reinforcement Mesh

GrassProtecta® is an improved heavy duty thick polyethylene mesh for reinforcing grassed surfaces prone to wear, rutting and smearing. The oscillated mesh structure has been designed to increase traction and improve slip resistance by up to 97% compared to standard straight oriented meshes. GrassProtecta® is a cost effective solution for grassed: Car parks Pedestrian paths Disabled (DDA) access routes Light aircraft taxiways Equestrian surfaces Verges Caravan parks Residential parking

GrassProtecta® disappears when the grass grows through

8

GrassProtecta® is supplied on 2m x 20m, 1m x 10m rolls and in cut sheets in two thicknesses (11mm & 14mm) for use as determined by the application and is manufactured, in part, using recycled polymer and with additional UV stabiliser. Installation is simple; after cutting the grass short, the mesh is unrolled and pinned to the surface using metal U-Pins or plastic pegs. By allowing plants to grow through its apertures, GrassProtecta® allows the sward to intertwine with the mesh filaments creating a strong, discreetly reinforced surface capable of withstanding vehicle loads, limiting damage and helps reduce compaction. GrassProtecta® can also be installed onto newly landscaped areas and seeded as required. Fiberweb Geosynthetics strongly advise that newly installed GrassProtecta® areas should be left unused until the grass has grown through the mesh apertures ensuring a strong interlock with the grass and mesh filaments is achieved - normally after a few weeks during the growing season, increasing to a few months out of the growing season. If the surface is used immediately grass growth may take a longer period of time to establish, thus limiting the effectiveness of the product. GrassProtecta® can be used in source control applications as part of a Sustainable Urban Drainage System (SUDS) and is the perfect alternative to impermeable paved surfaces where natural grassed traffic routes and driveways are preferred, planning restrictions are applied or cost savings are being considered.

The oscillated mesh structures allows full natural grass growth whilst improving slip resistance by up to 97% compared to standard straight oriented mesh structures.

TurfProtecta

®

Turf Reinforcement Mesh

TurfProtecta® can also be laid on top of a level, well drained, seeded soil, pinned and then covered with a layer of topsoil and seed.

TurfProtecta® is a black or green, lightweight polyethylene mesh for grass reinforcement where occasional light vehicular or pedestrian use is required for car parking or access routes. Supplied in 2m x 30m rolls and in two grades, 'Standard’ and ‘Heavy’ as determined by the application. The mesh is ideal for reinforcing grassed surfaces prone to wear and smearing which can create a muddy surface incapable of being used. TurfProtecta is manufactured from recycled HDPE containing additional UV stabiliser. It issimple to install; after cutting the grass short, the mesh is unrolled and pinned to the surface using metal U-Pins or plastic pegs. By allowing plants to grow through the mesh apertures, the sward intertwines with the mesh filaments creating a strong, discreetly reinforced surface, limiting damage and helps reduce compaction. It is advisable to allow the grass to fully establish before the area is used to create a stronger reinforced surface (this may take only a few weeks to a few months depending on the grass growing season). The grass can however be mown, rolled and fertilised as usual during this period. TurfProtecta® can be installed onto existing grassed surfaces or newly landscaped areas, for both permanent or temporary applications.

Within a few weeks the grass will grow through the mesh, creating a reinforced natural grassed surface.

It is strongly recommended that installation be carried out during the growing season to allow a strong interlock between the mesh and the grass sward. Ideal for: Overflow grass car parks Pedestrianised grassed areas

®

Footpaths and wheelchair access routes Residential parking

After a few months of the growing season, the grass roots have intertwined with the mesh filaments creating a strong stable surface capable of withstanding heavy pedestrian and occasional vehicular use. The grass can be cut as normal and it will regain its natural appearance.

TerramGeocell Slope Protection

Terram Geocell can be used in many slope protection applications often eliminating complicated and expensive construction techniques. Its three dimensional structure provides a blanket of ‘cells’ on the slope surface which can contain a variety of infill materials depending on the application; either topsoil, aggregates, from sands and gravels to larger stones and cobbles, and concrete of various strengths and surface finishes. This greatly improves resistance to erosive forces such as rainwater run-off on steep or unstable slopes, or slopes exposed to severe hydraulic or mechanical stresses.

Terram Geocell can provide a means of fully vegetating slope surfaces where this would not otherwise be possible. Each discrete cell contains soil infill to facilitate the growth of vegetation. The exposed edge of the cell panels also disrupts and reduces the velocity of any surface run-off from the slope; further reducing erosion of the topsoil. Precipitation percolating into Terram Geocell must be able to drain, either vertically into the slope substrate or parallel to the slope surface through the cell structures. As many slopes that require such a system have poor drainage, this parallel drainage is of vital importance and Terram Geocell, with its unique material characteristics, offers this without requiring wall weakening perforations.

APPLICATIONS: Cut or fill embankments Dams or spillways Shoreline revetments Abutment protection Geomembrane protection Landfill lining, covers and drainage Steep slopes Soil nailing cover.

Terram Geocell is anchored to slope surfaces using Terram Fixing Pins; these combined with the weight of the infilled system prevent the system from slipping down the slope. This allows the Terram Geocell to perform the important function of reinforcing the rootzone of the vegetation; in the long-term it is the successful establishment of vegetation that will provide the required protection.

Safety Rubber Mat

Play area safety

Safety Rubber Mats offer an environmentally friendly, slip resistant, impact absorbing safety and footway surface. It is ideal for children's play areas, most multi-function play frames, springers, swings, fitness/fun trails and pathways. The mats are manufactured from recycled rubber and are easily installed on existing grass and are pegged to the ground, allowing the grass to grow through the mesh apertures. Tested to BS EN 1177:1998 3 Metre Critical Fall Height (Tested by RAPRA) Can be used on flat or contoured landscapes Suitable for all weather, extreme temperatures and resists wind uplift Moulded slip resistant cellular structure with excellent durability and comfort Large openings of 2.5cm diameter allow liquid and debris to drain, keeping surface dry and clean Requires no special skills or tools allowing a quick and easy installation - fixed using plastic pegs and ties No costly base works (as required for conventional tiles or wet pour)

The mats should be laid onto a ground stabilisation mesh (please contact our technical team for further details) and pegged using the plastic pegs, whilst the edges on the mats are tied together using cable ties. Please request full installation instructions. Please check the suitability of this product prior to installation as the CFH figure will be affected by soil type, moisture and grass.

Fixing Pegs & Cable Ties Plastic pegs & cable ties are used to secure the Safety Rubber Mat to the ground. We recommend a bag of cable ties and plastic fixings pegs for every 8 mats purchased (Approx 12 pegs per mat)

Tensar TriAx

Tensar TriAx Geogrid

Tensar TriAx™ geogrid has been developed to improve performance over Tensar biaxial geogrids. These developments are to the profile of the rib section, junction efficiency, aperture size and of particular importance in-plane stiffness. The TriAx™ geogrid is formed using the most stable geometric shape - the equilateral triangle - as opposed to the rectangular or square structure that makes up the conventional biaxial product. Extensive independent tests have shown it to have superior performance in multi-directional stiffness and aggregate confinement when compared with Tensar biaxial grids, enabling a reduction in granular layer thickness. TriAx™ TX160 geogrid helps to stabilise the ground by increasing bearing capacity, controlling differential settlement, reducing layer thickness and increasing load distribution. TriAx™ TX160 can be used as part of the construction profile for BodPave® ground reinforcement paving grids.

applications. When combined with a suitable aggregate TriAx™ produces a mechanically stabilised layer with exceptional performance. LOAD DISTRIBUTION - Load distribution is 3-dimensional in nature and acts radially at all levels in the aggregate. MULTI-DIRECTIONAL PROPERTIES - Biaxial geogrids have tensile stiffness predominantly in two directions. TriAx™ geogrids have three principal directions of stiffness, which is further enhanced by their rigid triangular geometry providing stiffness through 360°. JUNCTION INTEGRITY - The Tensar TriAx™ manufacturing process results in a product with high junction strength and stiffness. JUNCTION EFFICIENCY - The high strength junctions and stiff ribs provide effective mechanical interlock of aggregate particles into the aperture.

Tensar TriAx™ geogrid provides exceptional performance:

GREATER INTERLOCK AND CONFINEMENT - In a mechanically stabilised layer, aggregate particles interlock within the geogrid and are confined within the apertures, creating an enhanced composite material with improved performance characteristics.

Scientifically proven to functionally out perform Tensar biaxial geogrids Reduces sub-base requirement compared with Tensar biaxial geogrids Reduces whole life cost 360° directional properties

Tensar TriAx™ testing has proved the structural benefits over Tensar biaxial geogrids which include : Improved confinement of aggregate and enhanced performance of a mechanically stabilised layer An increase in traffic life for a given sub-base thickness A reduction in sub-base thickness for a given traffic load

The unique TriAx™ structure incorporates several characteristics which combine to create an optimised structure that out performs Tensar biaxial geogrids in trafficking

BGT100 Geotextile separator/filter

BGT100 is a non-woven geotextile which delivers separation and filtration. BGT100 is resistant to all naturally occurring soil acids and alkalis and is unaffected by biological contaminants such as bacteria or fungi. BGT100 is important to use in paving construction particularly for installations involving BodPave®85 porous ground reinforcement paving grids - for grass or gravel surfaces in applications including car parks, access roads and pavements. BGT100 allows full water penetration whilst separating fine material (soil / sand) from larger material and offers essential ground stabilisation. The geotextile fabric can be used in conjunction with a geogrid to further improve sub-base performance.
