GREENWICH TOWNSHIP CUMBERLAI\D COUNTY, NEW JERSEY 08323 June26,2012

TO: Township Committee, Staff, and Members of Boards, FROM: Mayor Ted Kiefer RE: Community Visioning Project/Township Planning

Commissions and Committees

During the past year, the Sustainable Greenwich team, community leaders and other Greenwich residents planned a series of activities intended to engage as many individuals as possible in discussions that would help inform future planning in the Township. With the assistance of Dr. Randy Mason and a team of graduate students from the University of Pennsylvania./Penn School of Design, a series of surveys, interviews, discussions and a public presentation helped identiff and analyze several issues based on wide community input and research. As you know, Greenwich is seeking certification in the Sustainable Jersey progmm ) and the Sustainable Greenwich team has set up a website page that describes efforts to date. The team selected Community Visioning as an initial action along with a wide range of energy efficiency, environmental and community projects. The Township Commiuee supports the following vision points that were adopted by Sustainable Greenwich (4/2012).

as a mainstay of the community.

Township.

o

Allow for housing options that are in keeping with existing community character and respond to current and future threats related to sea level rise.
