[email protected] [Photzy] My friend was bored with her photography and I had an answer March 3, 2017 at 8:02 AM Kent
[email protected] Greetings, Photography is an awesome hobby. However, for many photographers, there comes a time when they feel stalled. There’s no more growth and no excitement. They’re taking the same pictures over and over againand pretty soon it feels like day-old bread. That was exactly what was happening to a friend of mine, and she spilled the beans to me over a cup of coffee. She said, “ When I started in photography a few years ago, I loved taking pictures of my kids… and our pets. And then, I discovered landscape photography… and it was like… Awesome! I never felt so free as when I was out taking landscape photos.” “So, what’s the problem?” I asked. She looked a little bit sheepish when she said, “I’m bored. That excitement is gone. I feel like my pictures all look the same.” I chuckled inwardly. Fate sometimes works in strange ways. I had just finished reading a manuscript by Kent DuFault, in which he talked about that very subject- and something that he had discovered- that blew that boredom right out of the water. My friend asked, “What are you smiling about??” I pulled out my phone. “I want to show you something.”
(I showed her this photograph.) “What if I told you that with most of the equipment that you already own, and a little bit of knowledge, you could be out creating shots just like this one?” She looked at the image, and then looked back at me. “GET OUT of TOWN!” “I’m serious!” I laughed. “It’s amazing that you brought this up. Photzy is about to publish a guide that will teach you step-by-step how to create landscape shots just like this.” She sipped her coffee. “If that’s true. You’ll be my hero.” I went on to tell her all about the guide. Needless to say, she was ecstatic. Before I get into it (with you) about this new eBook, let me tell you a story that Kent DuFault told me. He and his wife were on vacation in California. They were driving up the Pacific Coast taking photographs along the way. (Apparently that’s what they like to do when they’re on vacation.) At this point, the technique discussed in Photzy’s (soon to be published eBook) was fairly new to Kent. He understood the process- but he hadn’t really executed yet. Needless to say- he told me that he was kind of nervous. Not bad nervous- excited nervous. He and his wife worked together to pick out a scene and set up the camera for his very first effort at this technique. They took a photograph. And what happened next, (he told me with a grin), was pure magic. The two of them huddled behind the camera, and as the
The two of them huddled behind the camera, and as the image preview popped up, they looked at each other in surprise, and then squealed with delight… (Those were his exact words.) He told me how HE had been bored with his own landscape photography, and now… it was like he had been reborn (again his own words). He couldn’t wait to get out there and shoot more and more landscape photos. He shot over 500 landscape photographs on that trip. And he didn’t get bored- not once. Kent DuFault wrote us a guide so that we can all feel that same excitement. When I read it. I thought. “How does he always manage to write his guides so clearly, and concisely, and still keep them entertaining?” When I finished the eBook, I was all ready to begin exploring the technique myself. Now, before reading Kent’s guide, I had seen photographs (like the one that I showed my friend) on the Internet. However, I had no clue how to successfully create a shot like that. I say successfully, because there are a lot of really bad examples (of this technique) online. But- Reading Kent’s guide walked me through the pitfalls, and I was able to best 90% of my competition the very first time I even tried to get a shot like this! I’m rambling on… I tell you what- I’ll tell you more about this in another email tomorrow. Before I say good-bye, I want to leave you with these thoughts… You can have the most photography fun that you’ve had in a long time!

[email protected] [Photzy] Inexpensive- And The Most Fun I’ve had in Decades March 4, 2017 at 8:00 AM Kent
[email protected] Good Morning, Yesterday, I started to tell you about the newest publication here at Photzy- and how it related to my friend. Today, I’ll begin by recounting how this all began for Kent DuFault. It’s interesting how closely their stories match, (despite the fact that they are in very different places along their photographic paths). Kent also was feeling the pain of boredom (in particularly with his landscape photography). He had seen “Long Exposure Photography” examples out there on the Internet. In fact, he even downloaded an eBook (by someone else) on how to do it. What did he find out? The book was terrible! The sample photographs were blurry and unprofessional. Plus, the message (within the writing) was convoluted and hard to follow. Let me guess… I’ll bet you’ve purchased, or downloaded, guides that were exactly like the one that Kent found? Even if a guide is free, if it’s poorly written and illustrated, it wastes your time, and that feels like you’ve been cheated. Kent decided right then, and there, that he was going to write the very best premium guide available on the subject of “Long Exposure Photography”. He loves to help photographers become successful. However, what’s even more interesting about this situation is that (these are his exact words), “I began having so much fun creating long exposure photographs! It didn’t even feel like work at all. I just wanted to keep shooting long exposure images.” (Did you notice how the word “fun” keeps popping up over and over again?)
and over again?) He went on to say that there was a whimsical, surprising, and almost magical aspect to shooting long exposure photographs. “You can do all of your preparation,” he said, “and Mother Nature will still throw you a curveball and give you something that you didn’t expect. I love it! I love this genre of photography. It reminds me of the old dayswhen you would hold your breath waiting for your film to be developed, just so that you could see what you had captured.”
Here’s my question to you- Would you like to create amazing images like the one above? Would you like to get to that point in your photographywhile bypassing all of the pitfalls that could ruin your best shots? Are you interested in learning from an eBook that was written by a “true” professional- with clear concise information- and training that goes beyond the simple steps of - ‘put your camera on a tripod’ - but also gets into the nitty-gritty of what it really takes to excel at this kind of work? Take a book inside the book:
Here is what you will learnThe additional equipment necessary for Long Exposure Photography (and recommendations of what type to pick) Light leaks and how to handle them Special tips for stabilizing your camera for extended exposures Step-by-step specific instructions on how to set up the camera, lens, and filter system up for long exposures in bright daylight
exposures in bright daylight What camera settings to use The importance of developing a system Why the focal length of your lens makes a HUGE difference Dealing with digital noise Why sensor dust is more of a concern than with regular photography How to compose an effective long exposure photograph An in-depth discussion on how your camera settings will change the outcome of your picture Creative suggestions for color and contrast Color versus monochrome Post-production techniques Yesterday, I hinted that this great guide was coming, and that it was going to reboot your photographic efforts into something truly amazing.
