With over 4,107 acres of natural terrain and with elevations ranging from 384 to 1625 feet above sea level, Griffith Park is the largest municipal park and urban wilderness area in the United States. SWA’s master plan included program development; an environmental assessment of the resources to identify sensitivities and constraints; sections on reduced use of sensitive natural areas and on park maintenance and operations; and studies of alternative methods for handling transportation within the park.
