The Exbury Gardens Steam Railway

The popular Exbury narrow gauge Steam Railway takes visitors on a magical journey around the north-east corner of the Gardens and through the Summer Lane Garden planted with bulbs, herbaceous perennials and grasses. The journey lasts 20 minutes and features include a bridge, tunnel, viaduct and North Lake.

*During busy/peak period or on Special Event days, timings may differ. Changes will be advertised at the Visitor Entrance.

Access For All

Exbury Gardens is widely accessible, with the majority of pathways on level ground. Wheelchairs are available free of charge on a first-come, first-served basis. The buggy and Steam Railway are good ways of seeing the Gardens with your feet up! The Steam Railway has 4 wheelchair-friendly carriages. Mr Eddy’s Tea Rooms and Shop are also both accessible as well as the toilets and baby changing facilities are available. A leaflet summarising accessibility is available on request.

Exbury’s scheduled chauffeur driven buggy trips are available throughout the year to transport visitors with limited mobility between points of interest in the Gardens. The driver will stop at designated areas to impart information and answer questions. The buggy operates a ‘hop-on, hop-off’ service allowing passengers to disembark and explore at leisure before continuing the onward journey. This service is extremely popular and waiting times are likely on busy days. Buggies seat 12 passengers and places are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. Tickets must be purchased on arrival at the gardens.
