Who makes up a volunteer group? A volunteer group consists of any 10+ volunteers coming from a single organization. Examples include high school and college teams, clubs, Greek Life, community organizations, businesses, scouts, religious organizations. Groups of 10+ must have a designated group leader. What is the age requirement? Volunteers must be 12 years old or older, and accompanied by an adult. One chaperone is required for every 10 volunteers under 18 years of age in order to ensure sufficient supervision and behavioral management. Chaperones must be 18 or older and will have to register online as Group Leaders. How do I register my group? 1. If you are a group leader and your group is not already registered, register yourself as a group leader on the online volunteer registration page for the event you are intending to volunteer (www.ramracing.org). 2. Submit the Group Volunteer Registration form that will be sent to you from a RAM Racing staff member. The receipt of this form officially registers your group. Instructions and details will be sent to you from a staff member. Are donations given to volunteer groups? Yes. As a thank you for your group’s time and dedication, donations will be given to organizations providing a minimum of 10 volunteers. The donation amount is based on the number of people volunteer representing your organization. These volunteers must attend the shift you registered for, and stay for the duration of the shift. Donations are optional as many groups volunteer to serve the community and Ronald McDonald House. Can my group run and volunteer? We encourage all runners interested in volunteering to consider giving back by volunteering at the runner expo/ packet pick-‐up. All expo volunteers will receive volunteer gear. Due to the timing of shifts on race day, we do not allow runners to also work on race day. Enjoy your race and Hot Chocolate experience! Two of my friends and I would like to volunteer. Should we register as a volunteer group?
Please register as individual volunteers working in the same shift.
What time will I need to check in to volunteer? Volunteer group leaders will check in at the volunteer tent approximately 1-‐2 hours before the first race is scheduled to start. Your groups leader will be contacted by a RAM Racing staff member to you inform you of your time and position. How long will I be volunteering? Both Expo and Race Day shifts are typically 4-‐6 hours long. Do volunteers receive a shirt? All volunteers will receive Hot Chocolate 15K/5K volunteer gear upon check-‐in. Gear must be worn for the duration of your shift to identify volunteers unless otherwise instructed. What if my group has more/less volunteers than originally expected? Plan to recruit 10-‐15% over your group’s goal for the event. If recruitment is not going well, please keep the RAM Racing staff updated. If your group is experiencing a great amount of commitment, please let the RAM Racing staff know ahead of time. More volunteers are always welcome. Do volunteers get hot chocolate and fondue? Volunteers are welcome to indulge in all of the chocolate goodness of the Hot Chocolate 15K/5K after their volunteer shift is completed. Please return to the Volunteer Compound after your shift is completed, and we will provide volunteers with the well-‐deserved treat.s. This will not be available until after 10:30am. What should volunteers bring? Volunteers should bring with them as little as possible as there where be much moving around, and limited to no access to storing belongings in a secure location.
