Life Insurance/AD&D (Unum)

Covered by H. D. Smith at a rate of one times your annual salary with a minimum of $25,000. Associates may purchase supplemental life insurance on a voluntary basis.

Long-Term Disability (Unum)

Covered by H. D. Smith at 60% of monthly salary replacement with maximum of $7,500 if salary is less than $150,000/year and $12,000 if salary is more than $150,000/year.

H. D. Smith Benefit Summary Holidays

H. D. Smith observes the following holidays New Year’s Day Memorial Day Independence Day Labor Day Thanksgiving Day Christmas Day In order to be eligible for holiday pay, regular full-time associates (40 hours per week) must report for work the full day before and the day after the holiday, unless time off has been approved in advance. Part-time associates receive holiday pay for the number of hours usually worked if they have worked the day before and the day after the holiday.

Paid Time Off

H. D. Smith provides paid time off for the regular full-time associates (40 hours per week). PTO days are granted based on years of service being determined by anniversary of hire date. PTO is not granted until completion of the 90-day introductory period.

Profit Sharing Program

The H. D. Smith Profit Sharing Plan is available to all associates who meet eligibility criteria. Associates are eligible for the Profit Sharing Plan as of June 1 or December 1 after completion of one year of employment in which they have completed 1,000 hours of service. The Profit Sharing Plan contributes up to 15% (based on annual compensation) each fiscal year based on year-end results. A 401(k) program is also available to complement the Profit Sharing Plan, allowing associates to further increase retirement contributions by making salary deferrals on a pre-tax basis.

401(k) Plan

Principal® Pre-tax contributions are made through payroll deduction. Full on-line service is provided by John Hancock for account management. Maximums are in compliance with IRS regulations.
