With April Fool’s Day upon us, St. Patrick’s Day seems so yesterday. But this is my first newsletter since our St. Pat’s Feast to be able to applaud us on this event. I particularly want to thank everyone who pitched in for this successful event: Dessert Donators, Pie Bakers, Cooks, Servers, the Auctioneer, the Solicitors who asked businesses for their donations, the Donors of items for silent auction, Setter Uppers, Cleaner Uppers, the Organizer/Administrator of the Silent Auction, Bidders and Buyers, Ticket Printers, Ticket Sellers, Ticket Buyers, Cash Box Stewards, the Behind the Scenes Workers that made things happen, Advertising Arrangers, Donors of the Meal Ingredients, and anyone who wore green that day. We have now received payment for the last of the silent auction items. Every item was claimed. The grand total for all the evening’s activities was $3,212. Thank you!

Now, back to April. Watch out! April Fool’s Day is Saturday. Be aware. Be skeptical. Don’t get fooled. But that’s not the best part of April this year. The best, of course, is EASTER, April 16, when we celebrate Christ’s Resurrection and the conquering of death. Please plan to worship with us throughout Holy Week during these special services: Sunday, April 9 - Palm/Passion Sunday at our regular times of 9a and 11a. Maundy Thursday, April 13 – Service of Foot Washing and Communion at 7p. Good Friday, April 14 – Tenebrae Service and the Draping of the Cross at 7p. Easter Sunday, April 16 – “Sunrise” Service at 7a Celebration Service at 9a Classic Service at 11a See you in church this Sunday, April 2, as we complete our series Living our Baptismal Calling. The sermon is titled “Believe” based on the John 11 account of Jesus raising Lazarus from the dead. Shalom, Larry

HUFFMAN RECEIVES GRANT

Huffman United Methodist Church was recently the recipient of a $2,500 grant from the Missouri United Methodist Foundation. The grant was written in support of two projects at the church. The funds will be combined with other special projects contributions and used to switch the swing of the handicapped restroom door by the historical room to make it ADA compliant. It will also go towards installing LED lights in part of the daycare area. We are honored to be a recipient of this grant from the foundation in support of the churches work. Also, sincere appreciation goes to those who have supported, and continue to support our special projects. UMW UNIT Meeting

The United Methodist Women’s unit meeting will be held in the commons area on April 13, at noon for a salad luncheon. Bring a salad or dessert to share for the luncheon. The program will be "The Call to Prayer and Self Denial". All women are invited so come and learn. One hundred percent of the collection will go directly to the partners that engage in programs and advocacy to benefit women and children. 55 PLUS

The 55 Plus`ers meet on Tuesday, April 4 at 10AM, in the Enrichment Center. Carol and John Minor will share their trip through Colorado with pictures. Lunch will be at La’ Peep. The 55 Plus’ers would love for you to come and join them. UNITED METHODIST NEWS

“Church of the Month” The Rib Crib is honoring us again! As “Church of the Month”, all receipts turned in bring a return of 10% for our church. Eat at the Crib any or all Sundays in April and bring your receipt to the church office. This is a wonderful way to earn $$ for Huffman and enjoy a great meal at the same time. FOOD ON THE 1ST

Help fill the shelves at Calvin Center’s Food Pantry. The first Sunday of each month is designated for collecting donations. However, items may be dropped off at the church anytime. Containers are located at both Welcome Centers. Church Work Day 2017 On Saturday, March 25, several members of the congregation gathered to remove wax from pews and put a shine on the sanctuary, narthex and chapel. Light bulbs were also changed throughout the building and the leaves by the Sacramento Street entrance were removed. Thank you Terry and Tracy Christie, Kathy Caton, Lanny Ellis, Kathy George, Kelly Kimberling, Brynleigh and Lori Lopez, Mark Maugh, Cody and Connie Mayfield, Jenny Sapp, and Michael for the wonderful job preparing Huffman for the Easter season! ISAAC Update and Thanks Isaac and the Unruh family continue to receive the blessings of Huffman's family generosity, prayers and support. We are very blessed as such and send out our continued thanks for all of it. You may recall that this time last year he had been to Phoenix for a stem cell treatment which did have some positive results. He continues to be diligent with his exercises and strengthening work outs and is always keeping up on new therapies and advances. He has recently been taking some extensive physical rehab sessions at NextStep in Kansas City and learning some new exercises that we hope to be able to continue at home. We all would just like to thank you once again for your continued support and please keep the healing prayers coming! With appreciation - Isaac, Roger and Donna
