Staffing Changes We will sadly be saying goodbye to several long serving members of staff at the end of the Summer term. After many successful years of teaching Mrs McCormick has decided to take a break to spend more time with her family. We will miss her energy and enthusiasm and her calming nature with the children and staff. Mrs Taylor will also be leaving us although she is adamant that she is not retiring. She is intending to spend more time supporting her own daughter in her teaching career and with her granddaughter. Mrs Taylor’s dedication and commitment to all she does in school has never waned over the time she has been with us and her enthusiasm for all things maths is infectious for children and adults alike. We will also be losing Mrs Elliott one of our teaching assistants and assistant to the SENCO. Her dedication and commitment to our most vulnerable children in both Hammond and Lightwater Village School will be greatly missed. You will already be aware that Mrs Roberts (4SR) is also retiring at the end of this term. The dedication and commitment that all these members of staff have given to the children at Hammond School over the years will be greatly missed but we are pleased to announce that we have successfully filled these vacancies. Mrs Amy Harding has been recruited to the post of maths specialist for the maths sets within the school enabling us to continue to provide targeted maths teaching to ability groups across the school, supporting us to have smaller class sizes and individualised teaching and so benefitting all children. We have also recruited two new class teachers. Miss Nicola Gallop will be taking up the teaching post in Year 5 and Miss Emma Broadey will be teaching in Year 4. Both teachers will be involved in getting to know their new classes as part of our transition programme towards the end of this term. We look forward to welcoming these new staff to our teaching team. At the end of the term the children and staff will be saying their sad goodbyes and thank yous to Mrs Taylor, Mrs McCormick, Mrs Roberts and Mrs Elliott with special ‘memory’ cards and gifts. If you would like to make a contribution to any of these gifts or cards could you please send your monetary and written contribution to the school office, not the classroom, with the name of the intended recipient clearly indicated inside the envelope. We hope you will join with us in wishing our staff well in their new ventures and welcoming our new teachers to our staff team in September. Yours sincerely
