BACK With smaller needles, cast on 23 (25-27) sts. Knit 3 rows (garter st), noting 1st row is WS and inc 2 sts evenly across last row. 25 (2729) sts.

Change to larger needles and work 4 rows in stocking st. Dec 1 st each end of needle on next and every following alt row 3 (3-4) times more. 28 (30-30) sts rem. Place markers each end of needle.

Cont even until work from marked row measures 2½ (2½-2¾)" [6 (6-7) cm], ending on a purl row.
SLEEVES With smaller needles, cast on 16 (16-18) sts. Knit 3 rows (garter st), noting 1st row is WS and inc 1 st at center of last row. 17 (17-19) sts.
Shape back: Cast off 3 sts beg next 6 rows. Cast off rem 10 (12-12) sts. Fold Hood in half and sew back seam.
Change to larger needles and proceed in stocking st, inc 1 st each end of needle on next and following 4th rows until there are 21 (23-25) sts.
Sew shoulder seams. Sew in sleeves placing rows above markers along cast off sts to form square armhole. Sew side and sleeve seams.
Cont even until 5 (5½-6½)" [11.5 (14-16.5) cm] total length, ending on a purl row. Place markers at each end of last row. Work 4 rows even.
Place markers ¾" [2 cm] in from front corners of neck. Sew shaped side of Hood to neck edge between markers, matching back seam with center Back. Sew buttons to correspond to buttonholes.
