Board Members have been hard at work over the past three months getting ready for the upcoming season. We’ve talked about everything from uniforms to umpires to field use. I wanted to provide you an update on where we’re at and where we’re ‘going’ now that baseball season is just around the corner.
New Website
We’ve re-launched our new website with the help of board member Jennifer Forbes. You can check out her outstanding work at: SheldonLittleLeague.com It’s short on news for the time being, but that will change. This is a major upgrade to our previous website and costs SLL nothing to host thanks to our partnership with Dick’s Sporting Goods. Our hope is that this will become a major way to communicate with our parents about news and events. While we’re not ‘there’ yet, we do plan on creating Facebook and Twitter accounts down the road.
Registration When you visit that new website, don’t leave without registering your son or daughter for the upcoming season. If you register online before February 14, you will receive a 10% discount off the standard rate. I know it’s difficult to think about registering for baseball NOW, but don’t wait until the last minute … and tell your friends. You can also register IN PERSON at one of FOUR EVENTS: Saturday, February 1 – 9am-1pm – Dick’s Sporting Goods Saturday, February 8 – 10am-2pm – PK Park (Clinic with Ducks afterwards) Saturday, February 15 – 10am-2pm – PK Park Saturday, February 22 – 9am-1pm – Dick’s Sporting Goods
Even if you register ONLINE, you have to attend one of these events to get fitted for a uniform for the upcoming season.
Volunteers
While our board membership more than tripled over the summer, we are always looking for more parents and members of our community to step up to improve our organization. If you’re interested in helping out, please let me, or another board member, know. We’d love to have your help whether it’s to help with registration, coaching, or fundraising. Your kids would greatly appreciate it.
Board Meetings If you ARE interested in getting involved, or would like to attend one of our board meetings to share an idea, we welcome your participation. Our meetings take place at Buffalo Wild Wings in the Gateway area. The next two meetings are: Sunday, February 9 at 6pm Sunday, March 2 at 6pm
Sponsorships Our board has reached out to local businesses to solicit their help to sponsor teams or assist our league financially. Many have stepped up with monetary donations or with hard goods, like equipment to improve our playing fields. If you own a business or know someone who might be interested in sponsoring a team, please inform the board. This type of community outreach is good for the league and good for business.

Because we know how important it is to keep your family’s schedule as organized as possible, we wanted you to keep in mind a few key dates over the next few months: Sat., Feb. 1 – Registration at Dick’s Sporting Goods Sat., Feb. 8 and 15 – Registration at PK Park Sat., Feb. 22 – Registration at Dick’s Sporting Goods Fri., Feb. 14 – 10% Discount for registration ends Sat., March 1 – Evaluation Day at Sheldon HS 10am-12pm – AA and AAA 2-4pm – Majors, 50-70 Mon., March 10 – Practices Commence
March 12 – Coaches Meeting with Sheldon HS Baseball Coach Stan Manley March 24-31 – 4J Spring Break Sat., April 12 – Opening Day / Picture Day Thurs., May 8 – Papa’s Pizza Fundraiser Sat., May 17 – Day in the Park (Buena Vista) Fri., June 20 – Closing Ceremonies / PK Park Eugene Emeralds Baseball Game
