CAAI 2013 Successful Stakeholder Strategies Sustain the Wisconsin Community of Practice on ASD and other DD

Originated with CAAI funding • Title V and LEND collaborated to write Combating Autism Act Initiative (CAAI) State ImplementationGrant called “Connections” (awarded 2008-2011) based on state plan • Created Community of Practice on Autism and other Developmental Disabilities (CoP) • Steering Committee formed to guide the work of the CoP, co-chaired by State Title V Medical Director and Parent Leader(s)

CoP Large Group Meetings • “Connections” staff and financial support • 3 large group meetings per year on different topics • Average attendance 80 stakeholders • Built database of 600 attendees over the 3 years – diverse stakeholders • Formed practice groups based on topics of common work identified at first meeting

Committed Partners • State Title V CYSHCN, LEND and family representatives have provided 3 co-chairs for the Steering Committee • State Title V has continued to support part-time coordination through staff position (necessary for continuity) • LEND trainees have continued to participate and have assisted with implementation
