A thought from the sermon to share with someone this week:
Reformation Day commemorates Dr. Martin Luther's posting of his Ninety-five Theses on the door of the Castle Church in Wittenberg, Germany on October 31, 1517. This act triggered the movement in world history known as the Reformation. Martin Luther and his colleagues came to understand that if we sinners had to earn salvation by our own merits and good works, we would be lost and completely without hope. But through the working of the Holy Spirit, the reformers rediscovered the gospel -- the wonderful news that Jesus Christ lived, died, and rose again to redeem and justify us.
Inquiring Minds Want to Know You can learn a lot about our church from the website or by attending our worship services, but the best way to get oriented is through the personal interaction of an Inquirer’s Class. Today during the Sunday School hour, Pastor McIntosh will continue an HPC orientation class in the Office Conference Room. There is no obligation to join the church after completing the class, but participation is encouraged by our Session if you want to join HPC. Refreshments for tonight Families are asked to bring sandwiches, chips, cookies, vegetable trays, and/or a dish to be shared with our guests following the Joint Reformation service this evening. Daylight savings ends Next Sunday, November 6th, the clock “falls back” an hour. This is a reminder to move your clocks back one hour on Saturday night, November 5th.
B.L.A.S.T Building Lives Around Sound Truth There is no greater way to have a blast than to learn Jesus, except perhaps, to learn about Jesus with others. Now that’s a real BLAST! Through engaging Bible study, media resources, food, fellowship, learning, and having fun, middle school youth (6th-8th grades) will explore building their relationship with Jesus Christ while building meaningful relationships with others.
