What We Have Been Up To Lately…. I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas break. Happy New Year to you all. It has been lovely to see the children coming back into school well rested and raring to go! What Is Coming Up…… Clubs Hatch Ride clubs will start the week commencing Monday 16 January and end the week ending Friday 24 March. Due to a prior commitment, guitar club will start on Monday 23 January. External Clubs have their own arrangements. Please check the Clubs matrix for further details. Matrices will be coming home at the beginning of next week. If your child signs up for a club, they will be expected to attend every week. If for any reason they are unable to attend, please let the office know as soon as possible. Ufton Court If you have not yet paid the Ufton Court balance of £100, it is due by 24 January. Thank you to those who have already paid. There will be a meeting for parents on Monday 9 January at 3.30 pm in the Year 4 classroom. Caterlink On Thursday 19 January, Government Census Day, the main meal will be fish fingers and chips and the vegetarian option will be vegetable burger. On Friday there will be lasagne or vegetable goulash. As our funding for infant meals is dependent on the uptake on Census Day, I would be very grateful if you could encourage your child to take a hot meal on that day so that we do not loose out on funding.

‘Safe and Sound’ Week – 6-10 February We have planned a special week of activities for the children for the week before half term entitled ‘Safe and Sound’ which focusses on helping the children to keep themselves safe and well in school and out. As part of this week we will be having special assemblies from the NSPCC and we will be asking parents to take part in a voluntary sponsored spell to support the work of the NSPCC in schools. I will be writing to parents separately World Book Day We will be celebrating World Book Day on Friday 3 March and there will be a whole school parade at 9.00am in the school hall which parents are welcome to attend. There will be no afternoon assembly. The children will be dressing up as a character from their class’s chosen Children’s Laureate. Please watch out for a letter with further details which will be coming home soon. Phonics Meeting for Parents The pupils in Year 1 will complete a phonics screening check in the summer term. There will be a meeting to discuss what this assessment entails and ways in which you may be able to help your child at home. The meeting will take place on Thursday 19 January at 3.30pm in the Year 1 Classroom. Other News And Information… Fitness Trackers (including Fitbits) Some children have asked if they can wear their new Fit-Bits to school. As a school we actively encourage healthy lifestyles, however, if these devices are worn then school cannot take any responsibility for any damage or loss of the item. As with other jewellery, including watches and earrings, the children will be asked to remove them for all PE sessions and place them in the class jewellery box.
