Head Coach Alan Dils On overall day “It was a good day. I’m focused on tomorrow against Northern Arizona. The weekend is not over so my focus is squarely on that. If we can get through tomorrow, then we can enjoy the weekend. It will be our toughest test so my mind is there. Today was a good day. It was good to get a lot of different players playing. We had different doubles teams such as Simon Hegelund and Evan Corona-Saunders in matches. Guys like Andrew Van der Vyver got a lot of matches since he is a young freshman and it seems like he is coming along pretty well.” On coming into both matches “We are holding certain guys out this weekend because of the number of dates that we can play throughout the year. We have a deep team. We knew we could do this and get certain guys into the matches that maybe are not always in our top six. The strategy was get as many people playing as possible.” On match against Northern Arizona “As a coach, I’m always weary and cautious. I’m expecting the best from our opponents. Full confidence in winning tomorrow’s match, no. I’m confident we are going to play hard and put it on the line. As young as we are, we have struggled in our doubles this year because we are trying to find partners and the right combinations. I’m confident we have a lot of talent out there. I think if we go out and play our best, we are going to get good results.” On team goals for this season “Our team goal is to get better every match. We are working off of last weekend, which didn’t go as well as we had hoped. We are working a lot of mental discipline and cutting down on mental mistakes during, before and after matches. Sometimes they are little things like missing a second serve return. We are working a lot on that this past week of practice and during these matches. We are charting and keeping track of where those mental mistakes are. We will be doing some running for those when we get back into practice this week.” RS Sophomore Simon Hegelund On overall day “Doubles was solid. The first match especially. We came out strong and held serves. We were strong in returning and came out with a good start. That helped us later on in the match. We gained some confidence and took the foot of the accelerator because they saw that we weren’t going to give up. We weren’t going to give them anything. We came out solid. The second match took us a little longer but we got up to speed. Today was two very solid matches. I played with Evan Corona-Saunders and we make a good pair, I think.”

On first time playing in dual season since freshman year “I redshirted last year so I was pretty pumped to be out there again. I played at ITA Regionals in Las Vegas, Nevada in the fall but being back in a dual match felt awesome. It is a different vibe. I loved every second of it.” Sophomore James Hignett On Western New Mexico match “It was a good game for us. They are a tough team. They have some good players and got some good shots. We have to stay ready. In singles, everyone did a good job and Simon Hegelund pulling through at number six in three sets. It was a good effort. Taking the point in doubles with all three wins was good.” On Colorado State-Pueblo match “We started off with doubles and got all the wins again. We played really well at number one. That was probably one of our best matches. I think everyone did a good job in singles and I played pretty well myself. It was a good effort from the Lobos.”
