Scrap Series Meeting #3: Updated Dresden Plate Techniques General Supplies:  Rotary cutter  Self-healing cutting mat – I recommend a mat at least 18”x24”. With this size, you can cut a whole folded width of fabric easily.  Rotary cutting rulers: 6”x24” and a 12 ½”. Also, a 15” square ruler if you have it.  A DRESDEN PLATE RULER, either by EZ Rulers or Creative Grid – Running Stitch has both  A chopstick or two if you have one  A canning jar ring if you have one, or other circle shapes to trace for centers.  1 ½ yards of single sided lightweight fusible interfacing for all the centers, and Daisy version #2.  Sewing machine that you are familiar with, in good working order – don’t forget the accessories box for your machine, extra bobbins, and the foot pedal!! o A note about bobbins – to keep the sewing going in class, think about filling a bobbin or two with thread beforehand. It saves your time in class for SEWING!!   Extra sewing machine needles – I like Universals or Sharps in a size 80/12 for piecing quilts  Thread – cotton thread in a neutral color (gray, white, cream, black, etc.) for piecing, PLUS thread colors to match the center fabrics you’ve picked out.  Surge protector for your machine for use in the classroom. (This is just a smart thing to use with your sewing machine ANYWHERE you sew, but especially in a place where multiple machines are using the same circuit…)  Pins –I like glass-head straight pins that are at least 1 3/8” long.  Small scissors to cut threads  Seam ripper  Pen or pencil for notes and drawing on  If you have a box of sewing supplies, bring this, just in case I’ve forgotten to include something…   Lunch, and maybe a snack. (If you’re anything like me, snacking while sewing ALWAYS helps.)
